Haven't listened to this in a while... What a great song. Must have been quite amazing to hear him at Woodstock.

Starts at 0:48...

Wow! I've never heard their version before. Amazing how well it translates to the rock genre. Very cool
Funny, I heard the RHCP version and thought it was their song before I ever listened to the original!
I love 'em both!

I saw Richie Havens in Telluride in the 90s and he was amazing. At the time I had heard of him but also wasn't familiar with his work. It was a great introduction for me.

38 years on this is still a groundbreaker , glad i went and saw him this year because he seems pretty frail now (though I really think some of it is an act)

Oh my... Such memories. I saw Alexander O'Neal in concert in the very late 80s, and Candy Dulfer was the saxophonist in his band. She was writhing around on a huge bed in the middle of the stage, while playing (the saxophone) on "If you were here tonight"... though my mind was (of course) focused on her musical ability...

There are 8 Million Cossack Melodies and This is One of Them, 1963 by Group X

Surely one of the longest song titles in my collection!

If The Dictators and Poison had an illegitimate child that grew up in the South it might sound something like this.
