My friend who is a luthier and has a guitar shop here created a new guitar in recent years called the Dobrato.
I took some of his product photos and he has been doing well with it selling 100 of them so far and several to some famous musicians including Mike Campbell (and Mike Gordon and Jimmy Buffett to name a couple more)last year.
So my buddy Kent is beside himself excited to know his creation may be played as part of Fleetwood Mac!
That is a way cool story Im passing on to my buddy who played flat pick guitar on several of the Smithsonian Folkways Collections. Hes backed a long list of Bluegrass and Folk artists over the years.

Stubby Kaye - Frank Sinatra.

Watching the Blu-Ray. The new DENON AVR-X2300W 5.1 Neural-X Surround is awesome.

Listening Live at The Sheldon - 4th Row Center
Dailey and Vincent

Not really the best link - What’s available on YouTube doesn’t highlight the instrumentalists, but this will do.

The tickets were for Marty Stuart and His Fabulous Superlatives, but they had a sudden scheduling conflict (mrs monochrome says they were called to play at Barbara Buah’s private funeral), so fellow Grand Ole Opry members Dailey and Vincent stepped up. I really was in the mood to see Marty (it would have been the fifth time in my life) but D&V were fabulous in their own right.

Didn’t know I was a Bluegrass / Gospel guy, did you? Kinda runs in the family. Western Kentucky and all that.

My grandfather found Jesus at a Revival during WWl and it was Witness and Praise for the next 65 years. My father escaped . . . . .

My Uncle Richard was a Pentecostal proeacher and made his living driving around in an honest-to-goodness panel van with a tent in the back. Interestingly, my Aunt Frieda, cousin Shelley and nieces are nothing like that at all.

I have to say, listening to live acoustic picking and vocal harmony in a historic, 600 seat auditorium with near perfectr acoustics is a rare treat in these angry times. I subscribe to the Bluegrass Series at this venue - have seen some seriously talented performers over the years. Sidebar: The drummer is a later-in-life musician who started his career playing for Roy Orbison. Ahem - he was really, really good.

Here’s a stock photo of Dailey and Vincent.

Another Stubby Kaye. Teamed up with Nat King Cole for the Jane Fonda / Lee Marvin movie Cat Ballou. 1965. A very entertaining movie. If you haven't seen it yet do yourself a favor and watch it.

While looking for another tune I stumbled across this blast from the past. From '81. Same year MTV hit the air. Remember Martha Quinn? Fun times.

Nice find. Takes me way back. I have the 45, of all things.

My wife’s next door neighbor growing up was later a roadie for The Tomcats before they became The Stray Cats, went to England and Stray Cat Strut was released. Apparently the lifestyle around Bryan Setzer was Cray Cray, so (while I was dating her) he had skipped England, moved home to ‘clean up’ and we became fly fishing buddies. After some years traveling the world to fish and write fly fishing articles about his experiences, he is now an historic restoration tuck pointer. Interesting guy.

Tossing out a Royal Wolf or Muddler Minnow with Brian Setzer as the sun is coming up. Not a bad way to spend the morning.
Thanks for adding Mack the Knife. Another favorite of mine.

Tieing a Royal Wolf or Muddler Minnow (or Elk Hair Caddis) with one of Brian Setzer’s former roadies, my future brother-in-law and a bottle of single malt as the sun goes down. Not a bad way to spend an evening.

Was listening to some easygoing Norwegian singer-songwriters while working when this one flooded my ear canals and woke me up

Ah.... Memories. Mr. Kinker's fly tying class in 7th grade. Jackson Junior High. Wyoming 1972. Where the elk hair we tied into flies came from the elk that famalies harvested for food. Then trying out our own tied flies on the Snake River. Some worked better than others. A hell of a lot more fun than math class!
