I discovered this track whilst watching, of all things, a British comedy sketch show called "Cardinal Burns" It's from a Scottish band called "Discopolis" who - I believe - are no more. There are a few different remixes of it floating around, but this one - by Swedish producer "Axwell" - is my favourite... It's taken from radio air-play and the first couple of notes are missing from the intro as a result... but the mix is awesome, with the drums further forward than in the others I've listened to. It was released in 2013, I think. Never heard it until earlier this week, but now I can't stop listening to it. The incredibly simple opening guitar riff is to die for...

... and here's the original version of it - which is also very good. Less heavily produced - and slightly less mainstream in its appeal - but no worse for that...

There's basically no trouble she hasn't been in, and nothing she hasn't tried in order to pull through it all. She was once ordained as a Catholic priest, but I see in an interview the other day she's got the hijab going at the moment. A Work In Progress, as we all are.

A very troubled, but very talented lass

The press reports and social media videos when she was living in a motel and going through what looked awfully like a breakdown were terribly sad to watch. I understand she's doing better now, though. I've never been interested in her (or any other artist's) religious and political activism, but if I filter that out, she's a pretty iconic figure musically...

Just to set the record straight, she was ordained with an Independent Catholic group, the Irish Orthodox Catholic and Apostolic Church which is not in communion with the Catholic Church.

Fallen Shadow by The Fantoms

Another Fantoms original early 1960's-style instro, this time one from early in their career in the 1980's.
Look how young they were then!

After a long hiatus the band has reunited and recently released a new CD The Fantastic Fantoms.
My two previous posts were live performances of new original songs from the new album.

Chris
