Had Metallica "Load" Cranked in the car the other day. Been a long time since I listened through it in its entirety. Pleasantly surprised by how well it has aged.

Excellent. Yesterday I was driving my wife to get bloodwork done and Until It Sleeps came on the radio. Just enough headbanging for us older folks, not so much that we risk hurting ourselves.

Like racer, I listen to music everywhere. I use a Fiio high-res player now, with Bose noise-cancelling earphones for travel. BBC Radio 3 in the car. At home it’s either the hi-fi (a Marantz Class A amp driving vintage 1970s Leak speakers plus a Tannoy sub-woofer) fed from the Fiio line out, or my new toy, a Bose Bluetooth neck speaker. My listening is predominantly ‘classical’ (I played percussion in a symphony orchestra for 20 years or so) although I do have other weaknesses. For example, the CDs of the 2019 mixes of Abbey Road and the White Album should be dropping through my door tomorrow, thanks A*az*n.

I keep saying that Load would have been FAR better considered if it weren't authored by Metallica. It's a nice album in its own right and Outlaw Torn rocks (though dare I say I prefer Reload if only by the existence of Fuel?)

...And now I'm back to Metallica.
