The Afro-Russian Choir "Marusya" sings the Cossack song "Lyubo, Brattsy, Lyubo".

I listen to a wide variety of music, but what I like I like a lot, and what I don't like, I can't stand to hear. I can identify a song I don't like from the first note, and will change the channel immediately if possible.
I miss listening to music is a social setting, even in the workplace, because sharing good music in the company of others is wonderful, and sharing bad music in the company of others can often bring a different sort of enjoyment. There are some artists I didn't like at first, but grew to appreciate in this manner.

after posting that ep on FB I now am in a debate on who was the first punk-funk sound leading into post-punk. certainly, this EP is the first big English one, but the contortions were on no new york a year earlier produced by Eno and evolved to this about the same time that ep came out. - likely i will end schooled since the guy I am working it out with has worked in the record business for 73 or so (and he said this ep far outsold Joy Division or Magazine at first (joy division took about 6 months to take off here)

Interesting question, I would go for The Pop Group, out of Bristol Uk, Mark Stewart took punk, funk and jazz and created a (to my teenage ears) glorious cacophony, Rip Rig and Panic were only slightly later and followed on with the punk funk mashup.

From 1979, She is beyond good and evil.

You're one of the only people I know besides myself who would listen to both Ornette and Brubeck. Kudos. Here's something for you, then:

Never saw Brubeck unfortunately but did see the sax player Paul Desmond from this band at Bourbon St club (it came out as a live record ) . so here is one from that (he played a whole week I came in via a school booked a set of tickets - the guy who arranged it had a Dad with ties to the Club owner )

and a cool Ornette story from a Local who has played with a lot of people over the years

Ornette - Steve WallaceSteve Wallace

I didn't see Ornette that time at the Colonial but on a later date there, it was heartbreaking when it closed so many great shows there
