Oh, yeah. Again. Enough they've pretty much shut down half the state for today and tomorrow. (They were expecting a lot worse than we got for icing, actually, but it doesn't take much: practically no public services for this kind of thing. Buses shut down, and I don't expect we'll see a plow here, which means my street could be impassable to passenger vehicles for much of this week: there's enough that it'll be pretty resistant to going away, probably too much so for the slight thaw that's coming. )

So, could be some snow days, ahead.

An airline service called my wife yesterday afternoon to inform her that her future flight stopping over in Atlanta was canceled. Her flight would be rerouted through Chicago. Now when was the last time a flight had to be rerouted from Atlanta to Chicago in the winter? I'm gonna say sometime in 1901. (cute little winky thingy)

I'll admit that is the first time I have seen a clip of Yngwie. Kind of regret it now. I have a compilation disc of his and do appreciate some of it. Some of the comments about his performance in this clip are rudely hilarious.
I'll always remember seeing t-shirts saying "Yngwie F*cking Malmsteen".

Have been listening to Cold Chisel today ... while it has been on a radio a fair bit (while renovating my new place).

Drummer Steven Prestwich passed away the other day ... one very talented music writer and musician.
He was 56 and was taken due to a brain tumor.

He wrote the following song (one of many):

RIP ... sorely missed by many in the Australian music industry

You're a mechanic? Likes Fords?

And you listen to the Chisel... Are you sporting the requisite flannel shirt and mullet?

Just kidding.

Yeah, a bloody shock that was. I love Chisel; got that from my dad. One of the best bands Aus ever produced. I'm sad now that I know I'll never get to see 'em all in concert.

I much preferred the live version of "When The War Is Over" - much more haunting:

I think "Letter To Alan" is my favourite, though. Weren't just a simple piss-up pub band, with a song structure like this:

Hahahaha ... I'm not really a mechanic ... but i like to fiddle about under the ute though.
Just a nickname I have had for a long time.

LOL ... No mullet (business up front / party out back) here ... I can't grow my hair long enough.

I've actually got back into Rock a bit more recently ... hardly listened to much music much.
Although recent house renovations has had me have the radio on of recent and found Triple MMM to be the best station for getting work done

I really like Flame trees (which i thick he co-wrote as well)

The live version of "when the war is over" is awesome.

I mainly remember the version that John Farnham sang though.

Triple M is one of the least annoying stations out there.

Don't look at me like that Mechan1k - you know that one had to be posted. Hey, it's the Australian anthem we actually know all the words to!

Recorded in 2008? I had to check that this wasn't some sort of a joke. The B-52s seem to resist ageing. Kate Pierson is sixty in this video. Un-flippin'-believable! Cindy Wilson can still channel Yoko Ono. Fred Schneider sounds exactly the same as three decades prior.

I remember being offered big money for their debut album when it was long out of print and no sign of a CD release. But did I sell? No way. That is a stone cold classic of demented genius.

Ricky Wilson wrote some of the best guitar riffs ever. He is still missed.

This song went to number one in Canada, simply showing that Canadians have the best taste. Or maybe simply that they can relate to the humble homard.
