I have been listening to jazz lately. Mostly on the premade playlists on Spotify.

I've been into jazz lately too. My son plays piano and we just inherited a classic old organ so we have been listening to a lot of the organ masters like Jimmy Smith.
For more modern (dissonant) material, I'm listening to a Medeski, Deitch, Skerik recording of a trio that will be releasing an album soon as DarkWave. I've seen these guys together and in different projects and they are all very talented. Not exactly easy listening...

A few influences recently. I had started off the week with Bastille playing often on the jukebox in my mind until tickets for Rush went on sale in my area at which time my iPod sprang into action with random song selections from their discography But this passed after a few days as I saw Bush in concert one evening and for the most part I have been revisiting their songs and albums for the past several days.

Herbie Hancock Crossings on vinyl. Just got a new Shure cartridge for the AR XA turntable I've owned since the late 60s. Sounds fantastic but I'll have to clean up the clicks and pops in software in converting to a digital version.

I fill a trigger sprayer bottle with isopropyl alcohol and saturate the record when I am recording to digital audio. Even hit it a second time after ten minutes. I think it reduces hiss and a few pops of some fuzzy warbles.
Initially I would use a glass cleaner like Windex but found it would create a slight residue on the player's stylus.
I'm not too cleaver with software, though so I would try to get a good sound right from the vinyl and then lift the bass and treble a bit with software for the final copy.

Well, I'm "feeling lucky" with Google and am listening to Schöner Schein with [DIE!]. Well, was,, now it's Ich will deine Seele with Oomph!... Not entirely sure why Google picked German Gothic Metal for me

Will roll the dice again in not too long, but it's usually refreshing to listen to something a little different from the normal.
