Couple good Aussie bands there. Listened to them both in the late 80s, early 90s. Discovered INXS with the Listen Like Thieves cd, then Midnight Oil with Blue Sky Mining. Still have the CDs!
I have those too. Saw both INXS and Midnight Oil in the 80's at their peaks. Great times!
At the INXS show a fight broke out near the stage and Michael stopped and announced they don't play for fights which I thought was pretty cool.

Last weekend we visited my wife's parents and her mom brought out this beat up old guitar to give to my son. It belonged to my wife's biological dad who died in '72. We have a friend here who is a luthier so we brought the unplayable guitar to him to see what could be done. Two days later he returned it, with the neck re-glued and in great playing form. My son has been playing it pretty much nonstop since. He allowed us to record this song to demonstrate it. For some of my wife's siblings, it was emotional to hear that guitar again after all these years!
It's a Original Bauer Arch Top from Germany, made in the late 60's.

I've been hearing a lot of this song from him lately.

Stone Sour, Hydrograd
Mastadon, Emperor of Sand

Been in a more metal mood of late, even though my collection of music spans many genres. Must be my inner curmudgeon coming out.
Some interesting choices here in the forums though.

I went to a great gig last night... Some friends and I saw Hazel O'Connor at The Sage in Gateshead, not far from my home. She had her break-through when I was just starting to become interested in music, back around 1980. Quite eclectic in terms of musical style, but emerging from the punk and new-wave genres. Frankly, I wasn't all that taken with her music back then - there were a couple of tracks I quite liked - but the gig last night was excellent. The Sage is a very modern and extremely-well-designed concert facility with multiple halls. She was playing in one of the smaller halls, with about 1,500 capacity. Anyway, it was an excellent performance, with one particular highlight being the saxophonist - Clare Hirst (who was one of "The Belle Stars" back in the '80s

Don't you love when I are trying to recall an obscure Bowie song and the only thing that keeps popping in your head is another obscure Bowie song?

I was going to remark a bit of trivia I read today which was that supposedly, Bachman Turner Overdrive was turned down by 26 record labels when trying to get signed and I am sitting here wishing that someone would have made it 27.

Thank you, Bertwert - I am currently compiling a CD to be played at my funeral, and this will go very nicely with The Dubliners, Grateful Dead and Gong !

I don't mind this live version of 'Heroes'. No Robert Fripp on guitar, but Earl Slick had also played for him many, many times.
