Another chance find... Though I have to thank @timb64 for it, indirectly. After he posted that "God is an Astronaut" track (the first time I'd heard of them), I was listening to some of their other tracks on YouTube - specifically, a mix that also (for some unknown reason) included a track called "Daughter" by "Youth"... and the poster of that video had used an album cover from an entirely different band, "The Almost" Very haunting cover art, so I looked up that band, and found this awesome track, "Monster":

One of the great joys in life (at least for me) is discovering new music you’ve never heard of.Good to share these finds too.

OK, here's one that isn't exactly challenging intellectually

"The Soap Girls" are a Brighton UK-based punk-rock band.

Perversely, I’ve been ducking back and forth between Beethoven and Pink Floyd, most recently the seventh symphony and The Division Bell.

But you didn't put a YouTube link, @KoolKool, so it's hard to tell exactly what you're into and whether it resonates with anyone else.

I'm not averse to dance music. Us older folk have probably heard more of that over the decades than you, from James Brown (still being sampled by Kendrick Lamar and others) to Big Beat, Drum n' Bass, Trance, styles that today's artists still use as references, but that for us were simply on the radio or whatever as we went about life or in the clubs, even if our usual tastes were other genres (I quite liked alternative pop and even prog rock).

This is on my Spotify playlist at the moment, it's definitely not Bill Haley and the Comets.

Been listening to Gregory Porter in droves lately.

Also a lot of country (more specifically Thomas Rhett, Russell Dickerson and Kacey Musgraves) during commutes.

I've been jamming Sabaton's newest album lately. While it's very much Sabaton-like, I enjoy the slightly darker, less cheesy tone here. Considering the subject matter is WWI, anything else would be a disservice. Highlight is "The Attack of the Dead Men", narrating the battle of Osowiec fortress:

WARNING: Graphical description ahead (in text; the song itself is not). In current-day Poland, several thousand German soldiers aided by artillery laid siege to the fortification; after softening the defenses with a barrage of shells, they advanced enough to deploy poison gas, which decimated the Russian defenders. However, the soldiers were apparently denied permission to die, so between 60 and 100 Russian infantrymen, mouths covered in bloody bandages and chemical burns, spitting and coughing blood and internal organ bits mounted a counter charge, presumably looking so utterly terrifying that the 7000 Germans panicked and routed, running away from the battlefield. However, the Russian victory wouldn't last: the survivors blew up the fortifications to stop the Germans from making use of them and abandoned the fortress two days afterwards.

I am not sure whether the entire ordeal is horrifying, badass, or an unholy combination of both...
