It may not be obvious from this album, but his previous music style was hard rock, and he was the singer-guitarist. His outfit once played to 200,000 on a Melbourne night.
Interesting who can know who on web forums - such a wide reach of people.

Back in the early days...

The CMA Awards, hoisted by Reba McEntire, Carrie Underwood and Dolly Parton. Nothing but music on this award show - brief award presentations and thanks you, no politics and really not too many commercials.

I guess by political I meant no long, commentary acceptance speeches.

“Country” is so broad it’s nearly all-encompassing. We have pretty eclectic taste in music, but we do spend a weekend in Nashville every couple years. As fans I suppose we concentrate on bluegrass and traditional folk / spiritual artists (the Scotch-Irish mountain music found on Will the Circle Be Unbroken ~ Nitty Gritty Dirt Band) .A good friend frequently plays for/with Del McCoury and Emmy Lou Harris.

Loved Willy and Kasey but this year is exceedingly genuine. It is a musician's show not a PR show more than any I have been aware of in a long time.
