Continuing with the theme of 'gals that rock' you may also want to check out Samantha Fish. I pre-orded her last album (Kill or Be Kind) a few month ago after hearing the opening track. I couldn't wait for it to be available on vinyl so had to settle for an iTunes download, but now have a copy arriving tomorrow thanks to Amazon
