Well, the blues is foundational to a lot of later music, and can offer a bass player a lot of fun as well whether it was BB Kings full band or the stripped down blues trios like Stevie Ray Vaughn and Double Trouble.
Johnny B. Gayden was Albert Collins's bass player for decades, and his lines were anything but boring.

I bought that very album when it was released! In fact, that's what turned me on to Johnny Copeland, and later led to me buying a Peavey T-60 guitar. Nice guitar and very versatile, but heavy. At the time, I was in a band playing the local clubs, and I found the T-60 to be a bit of a lump on stage, so I mostly played it at home.

I still play a little today, but only acoustic - and mostly fingerstyle with a little flat-picking. My hands aren't what they used to be... but I really ought to play more

Friends, Led Zeppelin : Composer Jimmy Page, Album: Led Zeppelin [Box Set] Disc 1

We had this on 8-track and would crank up the volume as we were driving down Rabbit Ears pass into Steamboat Springs to go skiing. Back in those days we could buy a tank of gas for my 64 1/2 Mustang, a tow ticket, and lunch for $20. Brings back memories.

I missed David Byrne in Melbourne last year, I suppose his routine for Once In A Lifetime would've been similar to his appearance on last week's episode of SNL:

Very interesting that you know about that group, Rob!

This is the band with its previous name, still doing the David Bowie imitation.

So, I guess it's time to accept that the coronavirus is a pandemic...

Puns aside (and I really do love the song), please do what you can to stay safe and healthy!

Well, I lived in a few places that had independent or underground radio stations, which played a lot of import-only bands from overseas, and when I was in the US forces in Germany I was exposed to a lot of bands that did not chart or tour in the US and I had the good fortune of several roommates who owned incredible music collections. Flowers/Icehouse was in my friend's collection and the music stuck with me. I always thought Iva Davies and band fashioned himself a bit more along the lines of Bryan Ferry and Roxy Music. In any case, great songs never die, and the Internet allows a lot of them to be revisited and shared. I had never seen the concert version of that song, only this video version

Today as I was driving home, I heard and announcement that 3 members of Jellyfish had released some new music, and I really love it!

This evening I listened to the 2006 concert of Andrea Bocelli in Las Vegas. One of the best recordings of a concert I ever heard.

This remix is superior to the original version, IMO.

I got a solution for the Corona thing

Sold a lens to a guy in Hong Kong, had to fill in a customs document.
I asked the guy at the post office: its a camera lens but I also packed a couple of ounces of Corona virus.
Do I need to declare them on the form as well?

That will teach them in China, keep your rubbish we do not need that.

From time to time it's good to listen to some bone-rattling organ music

Charles-Marie Widor's toccata from symphony no. 5 is a good one. Quite interesting to see the hand and foot action, too!
