Love and Fury - The Tornados, 1962 (Joe Meek)

This is The Tornados pre-quel to their worldwide smash Telstar which I posted here five years ago:

Rockpile - Now and Always, 1980

I recently started replacing some of my old LPs destroyed in Superstorm Sandy.
Rockpile's Seconds of Pleasure is one of the must-haves.

They were truly a "Supergroup"! This was the only studio album released under the Rockpile name.
However all of the Dave Edmunds and Nick Lowe albums from those years feature the same lineup.

I saw Rockpile live at Loughborough University in October 1980, the same month this was released.

Lucky you!

I remember seeing Dave Edmunds live at The Malibu Beach Club in Atlantic Beach NY.
A Dave Edmunds fan site live show list says it must have been Thursday September 23rd 1982.

The band was good but sadly they were not Rockpile...

The first time I heard this song, I thought it was hidden track from "kiko" by Los Lobos, it fight right into the stuff they were doing at that time. Luckily, the DJ told me the name of the artist, Chuck Prophet

I also like this track

I have been revisiting the band, Slade lately. I have most of their albums and have also listening to playlists.
I dig em.

It's claimed 'Walk On The Wild Side' wasn't widely banned as expected because radio station managers were out of touch with urban slang and missed the 'giving head' reference. I really loved Reed's 1989 effort, with him essentially talking over some back-to-basics sounds.

Should ‘Walk On The Wild Side’ now be banned or beeped because of the line ‘All the coloured girls go….’?

It would be great if works were simply left alone to be engaged with as they are. Bans and bleeps never make sense to me in an adult world.

The single version of "Laid" by James had the line "She only SINGS when she's on top" and "Don't Marry Her" by Beautiful South had lyrics changed to "Don't Marry her, HAVE me" and "She'll grab your SANDRA BULLOCKS".
Also when "Born to Run" was performed on The Voice Kids in UK "Suicide machines" became "Highway 9 machines"
