Based on your picture I would've guessed you worked at the Canberra Deep Space Communication Complex

I don't know . . . some of those guys have some pretty good moves. I really like the dude with the big hands. That was a hoot watching him.

Of course, the problem with Youtube is, when you visit that site, you can never just watch the one video. Inevitably you get sucked in and watch another, and then another. Reminds me of a dictionary. Whenever I look up a definition in a dictionary, I almost never look up just that one def -- I'll usually end up looking at several. So, with this in mind, I found more of these flight line take-off videos:

And none of these guys are operating in the dead of night, or the middle of winter when it is cold and wet and the rain is horizontal.....!

Oh, I'm sure they had to do it then, too, just that the guy taking the videos didn't feel like getting wet, or up in the middle of the night, or freezing his toes off during the dead of winter!

I dream of doing similar, but on my old BMW motorcycle. With a sleeping bag, one-man tent, and one of the hard bags crammed with camera gear. Point my bike westward and not stopping until I hit the Pacific.

That's not exactly an unattainable dream except for maybe the not going back to work part. Heck a good cross country motorcycle trip should only take a month or so each way of course. You got to be careful with that kind of trip though that's how I ended up in Alaska (from Baltimore) married with the house and the kid on the way !

Well, I don't have to worry about the married part. Or the kid(s) for that matter. They're grown and gone. And I get by on a modest montly stipend -- barely. The wife is happy with her job here, but I really don't like "here." I itch to see the West Coast again. It's been over 10 years since I made a trip back there, and that's way too long.

Hrm . . Alaska, eh? Now that's an interesting idea . . . I'd probably have to get a passport to do the road trip, though.
