Officially homeless

In a good way.

House FINALLY closed. Took three weeks more than expected due to supposedly slow underwriting, but hey, it's now a done deal. So we're homeless until moving overseas, squatting at a family place that sits empty otherwise.

Man, that's a huge weight off our shoulders!

Sweden. We're starting renovations on a house there soon so will be moving in the spring. Place was built in '48 so needs a little updating.

Well I am glad for you. Is that your motherland?

All the best in your move.
Be weary of your first full winter there - you may be surprised how cold you'll feel coming from such a warmer environment...

No kidding. You may want to hit the REI Labor Day sale for an extra-warm coat before you take off.

Safe travels to all.

Cheers,

Adam

Even though you guys are going "home", please stay in touch with the forum. I've enjoyed your posts, even though you do shot with a ("shudder") Canon.

You guys are too kind. We will hang out here in SC for a while longer (most likely for the winter, since the wife for some reason isn't too keen on the idea of landing in Sweden in the middle of it).

And don't worry, I will be here to play my role as resident Canon troll.

graphicgr8s: Not retiring yet, I'm only 35. But we've saved up a fair bit so looking at the potential of doing some contract gigs and such since we won't really require a steady income stream at this point. We'll see; the most important thing is spending more time at home. Traveled WAY too much for work this past year.

Oh Sweden! Isn't that where IKEA is from? My favorite home furnishing store.

Funny, the possibility of moving to Sweden came up for us, this past week. Quite daunting, really. (Not much of our stuff would really be worth shipping, nor probably add up to too much to sell over here, so we'd really be starting pretty fresh. (I had the amusing thought that considering how Pentax prices are over there, I could be a one-time importer of Pentax gear and have a nest egg. 'Do you have anything to declare?' "Umm. Couple things?" )

Still some intriguing possibilities in sweetie's field, there and in the UK... I'd be interested to hear how the transition goes for you.

(To be honest, I'm still holding out hope that where we go next is to at least have a good chance of *staying put,* and a lot of stuff about emigrating doesn't seem to work that way. But you never know. )
