Oh hey Sean Hannity.

You could also mince the words into 1/2 the time Wikipedia gets it right and the encyclopedia wrong, and 1/2 the time the other way around.

But that wouldn't sound quite the same would it?

I am sure you get what I was saying and just deliberately had to "misunderstand".

If I wanted to "misunderstand" would have stopped after "get it wrong"

Why does the internet give you hope?
Well, some of these stupid arguments have been a long time coming.

What happens next is kind of up to us.

The hopeful bit is it's now much harder to convince people they're alone in the world than it was not too long ago. People were babbling about how horrible and evil people are back then, too.

The hope, there, is that now we can find out different.

All we have to do is want it.

Hmm.Babbling. Kind of like this post you just made? That pretty much makes no sense. Again.

It wasn't anti-social. Just a statement of fact.

But a lot of reliable information can be found on the internet too, if one knows where to look for it...
Therein lies the problem. What happens when one has access to vat amounts of "free" information is that they will tend to seek out that which reinforces what they already believe.

Yes, I realise ignorance breeds ignorance, but this is not new to the current information age...
One can choose to at least try to be impartial, and with that attitude, the internet can be a very informative tool...

No, the Friendly part should stay. It's the enmity that should go - and that's up to us to do!

Yes, RML's post made perfect sense, and between her statement and the deal about the vast amount of info available on the net, that's what I was talking about as far as "hope for the future." That doesn't mean it'll pan out, of course. Just that it provides some hope.

Yes, there's a lot of bad info out there, but you CAN sift it out pretty reliably if you learn to. I know it took me a learning period of several years to be able to sort the facts from the crap. There are other people who are better at it than I am. Clearly, it's doable. We just need a whole generation to learn how to do it instead of spending all their time watching videos of people falling over on youtube.

Keep in mind that even without the internet, the world we live in is FULL of false info, and a ridiculous amount of people believe it.

The internet also has potential to bring people who otherwise may have felt powerless and marginalized together, and provide them a means of communication and a way into the public awareness. This can be good or bad. "Hope" is for the good aspect.

Obviously, it's not like the internet is going to fix everything. But it's easy to see its potential as a very powerful tool for the achievement of change... positive or otherwise.
