possible new cameras coming up?

*Listed by pricepoint.
*Listed body only price whenever i can.
*Created as of Nov 18 2009 referenced from B&H website.

Did an excel of whats currently available...from the pricepoints it looks inevitable there will be something to replace the K20D pricepoint...perhaps a 6fps version?

there is a gaping hole in the Full Frame side. Likewise for Panasonic and Olympus. A bit sad that the only FF with body-inbuilt-shake reduction is Sony`a A900.

Pentax has pretty much in essence always followed a 2-body model. Occasionally they have had a half generation refresh (K100D -> K100DS, *istDS/DL -> *istDS2/DL2) but have generally been a 2 model company.

Some may call the k200d and k2000 the exception to this rule, but I think the K200d is more of an experiment to see how 'up-market' their entry level design could be pushed. The k2000 came quite soon after the k200d release, so I think it is safe to assume that the experiment did not yield the desired result.

(some people here will defend the k200 to the death, but when you look at the competitive pricing of all pentax's high end offerings - and more importantly where prices settle over the life of their high end camera bodies - it doesn't make sense for them to have a 3 tier body model).

Think of it this way; would you talk about a gaping hole in the Panasonic and Olympus lineup? After all they have neither an FF *nor* an APS-C body :-P

You really really should give up the notion that some day Pentax is going to release an FF body. Better for your mental health. Not saying the chances are 0%, cuz they're not, but better to be really happy in the off-chance that it happens, than to be disappointed every time there's a Pentax press release only to find that your FF wasn't announced (again).

Just my 2c.

...and what would a K20D replacement compete with? Sony A-somethingorother or the compacts of Oly and Panasonic? Price comparisons don't work too well.

As for FF vs Pentax et al...the way the chart is set up, the 7D, A850 FF and K-7 are around the same point. Actually, the K-7 is lower. Who's going to buy the Pentax in the end? Better priced than a comparable D300s.

Price comparisons...meh.
