I can't speak for everyone here, but I am insane and do this as a hobby. The others are also insane, including you for thinking you might get a straight answer,..... but I am not sure if they do it as a hobby or not?
Regards!

Well, if this is a hobby, and there are no ground rules...well....I can play along too. I won't feel good about myself in the morning, but I do know how sports are played sometimes.

There are people who think that some of this stuff represents a fight or a war, Larry.

The fact that it's *not* means... Someone's gotta be people.

You know? We're not parties or ideologies or abstractions, any of us.

People.

I figure that's us.

Right?

Let's not let anything or anybody make us anything less.

That's what i say.

Everything else in the world is dealable.

I'm quite proud to be a red pinko socialist public health care loving conservative canuck ...it's too bad my moral superiority forbids me from flaming anyone

There was a post yesterday...sometimes I wonder if some of the posts are real....some people take their opinion very seriously. I was tempted in posting them to chill out. I think some people just need to take a break...go shoot some pictures...

Eh, is there any particular kind of barbeque smoker I could pilot across the border to defect? I mean, I'm a loyal American, but people do seem to insist upon heaping insult upon injury. They could fix it iffen they want at this point.

Seriously, though. I'm not one to give up on a fight, especially not for American ideals, but my dearest and I have seriously considered fleeing America more than once... for freedom.

This should be shameful.

I mean, it's really stupid down here. Maybe funny to look at. Gods know you have to laugh.

But it's been scary. People will say, 'Youre against all goodness and decency' and.... Well. No treat you so well. When we were back up north we'd joke about turning up in Ste St Marie in an innertube. It's funny, and it's not funny.

Scary. Anyone in America remember scary? Was it right all the other times?

I've lived in both the US and Canada.....both are fantastic places to live, as I suspect most places are. Each has it's own set of challanges.

I might have a different viewpoint on politics than someone else, but we might also have a lot in common....

Only when dealing with moronic conservative idiots who think that what they believe in works in the real world on any level.

Hey, he had helpful hints about tomatoes and kneebraces both. Admittedly there's been gigabytes of noise related to me not being a human being otherwise, but I do listen.

Pole beans, also.

He's otherwise a rude, crude, and nasty individual to me, but, no sense crying about what we were issued for 'elders' this time around, is there? (He's very interested in being called that, whoever it hurts, btw)

It also sounds like him coming off my ignore list was a bad idea for the sake of the group. Sorry, Graphics.

Maybe George would like to PM a person, who is me. I've had enough of Graphics, though.

Again.

Anyway, in the interests of pece, I've ignored Graphics again.

Though, to George, I'll say...

Sometimes it comes about that those who most glory in their bullyhood...

Find that a day comes around when they realize the only people that ever actually listened to them...

They abused as 'weak.'

Bon appetit.

Wise words as learned in the Hugo Chavez/Kim Yong Il/Mahmoud Ahmadinejad school of thought.

General Talk is just that. It is supposed to be a relaxed forum to talk about non-photograpy related topics; and generally that what this forum does. It is the political rants thats seem to be the ANGERED forum to express how one feels about the how politics are affecting him/her which sometimes leads to individuals ATTACKING one another and then the MODS have to get involved to keep it all inline.

Give credit to Adams and the mods for keeping this a FREE forum to express how people feel about current events from the weather or how our president here in the US is peforming or what may be happining in other countries.

There is always other parts of this Pentax forums to keep the interest going albiet it will mostly be related to photography.

The General Talk section is IMHO the part were you may be entertained by watching the political rants, or a duking match between oppising views, or sports, or how someone's family is growing.

Yea, the General Talk section beckons me to to take a look every time I fire up Pentax Forums but I keep myself inline by not partaking in a heated discussion if it aint gone benefit the topic; just sit back and watch how it unfolds.........

Knowing the convoluted and polarised thinking of some individuals here means than any semblance of a healthy debate with regards to politics is near impossible. This is compounded by certain forum members who are agent provocateur types who create posts with the intent to provoke.

Regrettably, I feel the apparent lack of moderation has allowed this whole issue to fester and get out of hand. The softly, softly, hands-off approach with no infractions given out or people being deregistered means a plethora of meaningless threads that use up bandwith, people emboldened to write outrageous stuff and slander, and common courtesy to disappear. Stronger and timely moderation would nip this problem once and for all.
