We check them every hour or so, but only change when needed. Sometimes it's 6 hours sometimes it's an hour.

You left out the most important option. You change them when they are wet or full of crap. The bigger your kid gets, the more he/she will pee and the turds get bigger. Pee on a turd and it turns to soup and begins to overflow. Yes, use the 12 hour Pampers and use a pressure washer to clean the kid off twice a day.

I really feel sorry for you folks with your Pampers and biodegradables and environmentally friendly stuff.

We used to use clotton diapers. An inexpensive laundry service picked them up weekly and brought fresh ones. What was flushed down the toilet is still environmentally acceptable.

But what you are really missing is the fact that used, well laundered diapers;

Made the very best, lint free, lens cleaners.
They were unbeatable for washing the car.
They polished the wooden furniture to a regal sheen.
They cleaned windows until the glass vanished.
Crystal ware and silverware glistened.
Spectacles were spectacularly spec free.
They were great dish cloths.

Try that with today's disposable, environmentally friendly, smog free, non global warming, pollution free, synthetic, cutsie wootsie printed, expensive "conveniences".

Well, except that disposeable diapers *aren't* environmentally-friendly at all and in fact no one wants to pay for the service wen they can throw something away?

I tried to talk my wife into buying the ones that are environmentally friendly...not that I would want to start throwing them in my garden. They are supposed to be flushable in your septic system......complete with a stick to mangle them before flushing. I probably would have put up with it but there was no way she was going to use that stick. I still don't like the idea of disposable diapers....

Jeez you guys....this is a poop thread....how can a poop thread get serious? It's a good thing you two live 6 hours away from each other.

I think everyone should chill out and go back and read reeftool's last post....it puts things into perspective....
