Anyway. The US has signed the Geneva conventions on treatment of prisoners correct? So all members of the Armed forces are supposed to follow those rules. We would also hope that the other side in most conficts would do so as well. If the signatories don't follow the rules they agreed to, then there's no way for them to cry foul when other combatants don't.

Why should these guys not be investigated if there is some question as to their conduct? If it's baseless (I hope), then they should get a wrist slap and go back to being soldiers. If not....
But they are terrorists not soldiers. Conventions shouldn't apply since agreements such as this have to have to sides in said agreement.

Just be glad you guys get paid to fight and not get yanked out of high-school for 2 years to fight in conflicts you never knew existed and have no desire to participate in.

Actually, i want to see how America would react, if starting today Military service for all males age 18 to 27 would be mandatory, for 2 years, with a paycheck that would make a welfare cheque look like a bag full of gold.
Money? You really think that's the real incentive? If so you have no idea of why then. Money? For what is required they aren't paid nearly enough. Especially those on the front lines of combat.

Oh as for your second part, we already did that. Up until Nixon stopped the DRAFT.

So what is their incentive then?

let me guess, "to protect the American way of life?" :ugh:

That is my nephew's reason. Has wanted to be a Marine as long as I can remember. And he is a Marine.
That was my Uncle Paul's reason. 1 tour in Korea, 2 in Nam. Second tour in Nam he came back with mental troubles though.

Yeah i would have mental troubles too from killing people and having mortar shells explode 10 feet away from me on any prolonged basis.

Your American way of life is a joke, and going to other nations blowing shit up is not going to protect it.

Last time I checked, no one is actually invading America by aggravated force.

You want to protect your way of life, implement stricter immigration policy and stop outsourcing your production to every other country in the world where human life is worth less than a pair of Nike shoes.

Your way of life is under fire from the inside, not outside.

Oh great, I can see where this is going to go...

Geez Gooshin, can't you make a point without trash talking the other guy's home? You might not like it, but I for one would prefer the USA next door rather than oh say about 200 other possible neighbours. Like ah China maybe?

Whats so bad about China?

I have a buddy that moved there, Shanghai, almost a year (or more!) ago, he is Polish, never once looked back.

And trash talking is the only way to get his attention, logical reasoning never works with his types. Plus i know i'm not going to even come close to changing his mind, so the next best thing is to poke him with a stick and watch him contort in rage.

I have no sympathy for the American (or Canadian) army currently in the middle east. They go in under the guise of peace keepers and protectors of Democracy, then blow the shit out of everything in sight, and we're supposed to salute them?

pfftt

Unlike the "live and Let Live" philosophy of the Russians both during and after the USSR era.

You are kidding right? What do you think the Chinese would do if they had a country next door with a small military, the second largest land mass and more natural resources than almost anywhere on earth. Can you say Tibet or Tiawan?

Irrelevant, i am not defending the actions of an obsolete and non existent socialist republic.

As for other more recent conflicts, such as Chechnya and Tblisi, there are no hidden motives. Things got heated, bullets were fired, retaliations were launched, its pretty clear cut, and we're not dragging the rest of the world in with us either.

At least they are clear on what they want. "We want Tibet under our rule, period"

I didn't know Russia didn't exist anymore. Interesting. Type "russia invades" into Google and see what you get. Get really comfortable and pack a lunch first.

Well we tried that but the bleeding heart liberals keep telling the border patrol to look the other way.
We outsource because the unions drove the labor costs too high.

Next stop to blow stuff up? Canada. We are taking it over.

Check your facts. The Soviet Union, United Soviet Socialist Republic, no longer exists. Russia may be surprised to know they died though.

Exactly! how is any of this related to the middle east and armed invasions? Your problems are home grown.
