We were so Poor...

We were so poor we could not afford tinsel for the Christmas Tree... so we just waited around for Grandpa to sneeze...

We were so poor I we had scraps for dinner.

I don't get no respect.

Sure do miss that dog.

It was the same thing in the army, no respect. They gave me a uniform that glowed in the dark.

With my doctor, I don't get no respect. I told him I want a vasectomy. He said with a face like mine, I don't need one.

We were so poor, we decorated the aloe plant in the kitchen for Yule.

The aloe plant was also half our 'health care plan.'

(No, I didn't even make that up. )

We were so poor that we had to hang the toilet paper out to dry.

" We lived for three months in a paper bag in a septic tank. We used to have to get up at six in the morning, clean the paper bag, eat a crust of stale bread, go to work down t' mill, fourteen hours a day, week-in week-out, for sixpence a week, and when we got home our Dad would thrash us to sleep wi' his belt." - Monty Python

Well, we only had enough for the cheap John Wayne paper - it was rough, tuff, and didn't take no sh!t off nobody. It did dry well though...

Or, Das Boot and Igilligan, we were so poor we stopped believing in your moralistic scapegoatings decades ago?

I can top that with another Monty Python quote from same gig :P

"Right. I had to get up in the morning at ten o'clock at night, half an hour before I went to bed, eat a lump of cold poison, work twenty-nine hours a day down mill, and pay mill owner for permission to come to work, and when we got home, our Dad would kill us, and dance about on our graves."

RML this really isn't the time nor is it the place for your religious/political/lesbian rantings. I think Gus started it as a "joke" type thread. Not a soapbox for you.

Wrong time. Wrong thread.
