Tiger Woods taking hiatus from golf

Tiger Woods taking hiatus from golf
By Tiger Woods

I am deeply aware of the disappointment and hurt that my infidelity has caused to so many people, most of all my wife and children. I want to say again to everyone that I am profoundly sorry and that I ask forgiveness. It may not be possible to repair the damage I've done, but I want to do my best to try.

I would like to ask everyone, including my fans, the good people at my foundation, business partners, the PGA Tour, and my fellow competitors, for their understanding. What's most important now is that my family has the time, privacy, and safe haven we will need for personal healing.

After much soul searching, I have decided to take an indefinite break from professional golf. I need to focus my attention on being a better husband, father, and person.

Again, I ask for privacy for my family and I am especially grateful for all those who have offered compassion and concern during this difficult period.

I am a big golf fan and always appreciated what he can do on the course. His mental toughness was a step above everyone. But my reaction? Who cares? It is a very sad saga. Poor kids. The media seems to care more about his sponsors and porn stars.

Tiger is an industry and the Golf industry will lose 50% of it's gross product with him gone.

Though I can appreciate his gift, I couldn't give a frog's fat ass about the industry of golf. I really have a hard time thinking Tiger's indiscretions are going to keep people off the course (aka fat men without jobs). The only thing that is going to hurt are the companies behind the marketing blitz surrounding Tiger. Screw em - they took a gamble on a human being - all's fair. They all made a shitload of money.

MELBOURNE, Australia -- Tiger Woods gave record crowds at Kingston Heath what they wanted to see -- exquisite shots and a closing round of 4-under 68 to win the Australian Masters on Sunday for his seventh victory of the year.

In his first trip Down Under in 11 years, Woods put on quite a show for his $3 million appearance fee.

We are just now beginning to get some relief from hearing night and day about Jacko, and now here comes Tiger.....There sure must be a lot of people in the world without a life of their own?

Q: What does Tiger Woods have in common with baby seals??
A: They've both been clubbed by Scandinavians

j/k to my Scandinavian friends... unless you're into that sort of thing

Yeah, me too. I got a whole list of these from my roommate's racist family. (He's not at all)

I bet the original author (of my joke list) was just a sports fan, but I have no doubt that certain minor (though way too prominent) people find extra pleasure in this commotion surrounding Mr. Woods because they prefer him as an outsider.

My roommate has NEVER received a sports- or infidelity-related email from his family. They're nice people and all, but definitely have a perspective that the rest of the world is moving away from at exponential speed.

I don't follow 'General Talk' much, but I've seen some people here that seem to stand in the way of progress because they just can't seem to see the vision. Too bad. We are fortunate to live in a time of such progress, even with is growing pains.

Jokes aside. Woods has made such a huge mark in sports, earnings and such that cannot be taken away. One can only hope he gets his head screwed on again (poor choice of words) and makes a successful come back. Kobe Bryant sure did. Bill Clinton did, Jesse Jackson did, well maybe not.
I live close to the Sherwood Country Club and his last no-show event caused a lot of no-shows and drop in TV ratings. The traffic around the area was not as bad as past years. His name was gold and still is. He will be back.

There may be a whole new set of sponsors lining up

Monster
Viagra
Trojan
Cialis
Larry Flint Entertainment
any big driver golf club co.

MJ was a musical child prodigy that evolved into a singing legend. His death was untimely. Tiger Woods is a golf icon that has done a lot for the sport. Both of them had PEOPLE issues which draws the attention through the MEDIA. Ordinary folks like us, Rupert, are going to be intrigued; or not.. This is the society in which we live in and unless you shut yourself off to the MEDIA ENTIRELY....... you are going to here about these larger than life human beings.......

My wife loves those gossip shows. I think the only one I really kind of enjoy is TMZ. They poke fun at themselves and others in their industry. You really get to see the relationship between the paparazzi and the entertainers. The rest of those shows like entertainment tonight are nothing but 30 minute commercials.

Why is it that the more fame and fortune people have, the less satisfied they are and the more likely they are to do something stupid to screw it all up? As a group celebrities seem to be less appreciative of what they have than anybody in the world.

There is an old saying......... "the more money you have, the more problems you have"......then throw in the fame as well and it can be very miserable, I guess.......
