Farmer welfare.

I've long known personally many farmers and hobby farm folks who own a farm just to collect government money. They do not want to show a profit at any and all costs to collect their checks. But after reading this article, there seems to be a bit of hypocrisy where some of our elected officials are concerned. If welfare is to be eliminated, we need to get rid of these farm subsidies too. Michele Bachmann and Chuck Grassley...really.

Michele Bachmann: Welfare Queen - Truthdig

these people give REAL hardworking farmers a bad name.

You guys are the kings of twisted logic..... a little bit (1/4 million dollars+) of theft by a Republican wingnut is OK because it is less that another crook has taken.... just because he is a Democrat. This is the same Republican logic we got from Rush and Hannity that told us although near 4500 men have died in vain in Iraq, it is still less than those that die in auto accidents during the same time frame? So this makes their deaths immaterial? I guess your twisted logic covers most anything that your sickly party does....right?

We'd like it if you'd stop subsidizing your farmers too.
And did you ever drop the Export Enhancement Program which was nothing more than a back door subsidy to get around the fact that you had agreed to desist with the subsidies?

If they dropped the subsidies, corn prices would rise, people would start eating more healthily and not get sick so often and the drug companies and McDonalds would start getting subsidies. They'll always find a way to make sure we never see the money.

I would go further and replace 'some' with 'most'.

It starts with term limits.

You start with a few peanuts, and you end up with a bagful.

Graphic I might have some respect for your positions if you took "right" as a position without regard to the party involved, but you are like that famous German after WWII that defended his country's inhumanity and war crimes with "My Country Right or Wrong". When your side is wrong, just admit it and stop defending the indefensible. Otherwise you will continue to appear as just a robotic mouthpiece for FIX News without values, without concern for justice or fairness. Even a thief has no use for another thief....and if you are going to be a Champion for Wrong...then there is plenty to defend in the Democratic Party too......get to work!

I didn't say it was right or wrong. It occurs on both sides of the fence. And personally I think farm subsidies are bogus waste of my money.

No matter what party you are the mantra is: Don't take any money out of my back pocket!"

That's the way it's always been regardless of party. Too bad too.

*Tsk.* 178 billion to absentee 'farmers' in eleven years?

*Sigh.*

Definitely upsetting, given how many *real* small farmers I know. Hardly posting big profits, but you know *they're* the ones who'd end up being targeted by any conservative 'belt-tightening.'

Yeah, that's what makes it... Irksome to hear about those trying to put the kibosh on their health care are raking in the billions in subsidies while whining about 'socialism.'

Course, that's not just limited to farm subsidies. A few years ago, Big Oil got before Congress and whined for billions more in government 'handouts' while they were posting *record profits.*

The ideological thing is a mirage: what it is is *class warfare* by the richest on everyone else. That's where the *real* 'transfer of wealth' has been happening, as you need look no further than the actual figures on stratification of wealth: fewer and fewer have more and more of the wealth every year, while the working classes are 'downwardly-mobile.'

I'm worried about you Ratlady...that was well written and clear as the sunny day I am viewing out my office window........65F and rising!

You are also absolutely right, but won't sell it here. These lap doggies think that if they have a few dollars in their wallet and a six pack of Bud, they are doing just as well as the Fat Cats that suck them dry. They work their asses off at pathetically low paying jobs but contribute to the Christmas Fund for a gift for their mighty CEO that is only going to get a measly bonus of $250 Million this year. You can't help them, just as the Britt pointed out, they have shit for brains. ( I wish I could have said that!)
Regards& Hope you get to feeling better Ratlady, I just got my Buck Rogers Decipher Machine back from the shop and need to test it out....you didn't help me any with this post....but I have confidence in you!
