Predator birds are possibly my favorite. In my neighborhood, I have a few Marsh Hawks (the little guys), some Red-tailed Hawks, and saw a pair of Great Horned Owls one evening.
One time I looked out in back, and saw a flash of motion. Figured it was a bigger bird like a crow...kept watching...it flew across the yard, and I saw a squirrel dangling from the Marsh Hawk's talons. Grabbed the camera but it was gone when I got out there.
Another time out in the driveway, I saw a Marsh Hawk stalking the House Sparrows. All of a sudden, the hawk chased the sparrow and they flew about 5 feet away from me at full throttle...it was AWESOME!
Funniest story...BY FAR...was when the groundhog was eating some apples out back. The Red-tailed swoops down and lands a few feet away. It was looking at the groundhog like "hmmmmmmm...how hungry am I?"
Then the groundhog waddles over to the hawk like he wanted to have a conversation
It was hilarious since the hawk had no idea what the groudhog was doing
