Got too close the the hawk :(

Just found this pic online, Apparantly the photographer was mistaken for food I know those eagle claws can do some massive damage.

Wow! Ouch! That is extremely painful without a doubt. If anybody knows more about the story, I would love to know.

Btw I think this belongs in the off topic General section, but I'm sure someone will move it

One of the replies links to a series of photos of Kazakhstani Hunting Eagles...

That is one of them... And im sure its the same guy

And as the poster said, these are trained... so its more like the camera man pissed off the hunter rather than the bird itself

Rest of the photos

This is quite funny...the cameraman is more afraid than those rabbits based on the pictures in the link!

And with good reason. I recently shot a story about hunting with falcons. The subject of the story told us about someone who had recently gone to Mongolia to learn about hunting with golden eagles. If you doubt what these eagles can do, you need to watch this:

Oof! Nice shots of the unfortunate incident, though.

Magnificent birds, those golden eagles, too.

Among my favorite not-cuddly animals.

wow, that is scary! It goes right for the kill, even knows where to grab to keep the wolf from biting back. I will steer clear of Mongolia in all future endeavors, haha.

What, and miss the chance to see things like that?

"DIET: Golden Eagles prey mostly upon medium-sized rodents, rabbits, and hares, but also on birds, especially game birds, reptiles, carrion, and wild videographers."

Now I have a vision for a site called 'LOLphotogs.com'

Caption: "Eatingme bird iz eatin me!' Or 'Too friendly! Not want!'

That video was unbeliever. I would have never thought that an eagle could take down a wolf wow.

Predator birds are possibly my favorite. In my neighborhood, I have a few Marsh Hawks (the little guys), some Red-tailed Hawks, and saw a pair of Great Horned Owls one evening.

One time I looked out in back, and saw a flash of motion. Figured it was a bigger bird like a crow...kept watching...it flew across the yard, and I saw a squirrel dangling from the Marsh Hawk's talons. Grabbed the camera but it was gone when I got out there.

Another time out in the driveway, I saw a Marsh Hawk stalking the House Sparrows. All of a sudden, the hawk chased the sparrow and they flew about 5 feet away from me at full throttle...it was AWESOME!

Funniest story...BY FAR...was when the groundhog was eating some apples out back. The Red-tailed swoops down and lands a few feet away. It was looking at the groundhog like "hmmmmmmm...how hungry am I?" Then the groundhog waddles over to the hawk like he wanted to have a conversation It was hilarious since the hawk had no idea what the groudhog was doing
