The new decade is over a year away. Didn't we figure this out with Y2K?

Haven't you read any of my posts last few days? Pretty much the worst case of gout I've ever had. Bedridden since 12/23

Nesster, you live in Joisey, waddid ya spect in that socialist state?

For gout, do you know of the cherry cure?
cherry and gout

Joisey property taxes don't help (I pay more in property tax than in mortgage), but the main problem is I work on Wall St, and unfortunately not for Goldman either.

I'm sorry to hear about the health misfortunes, Nesster, they sound many. (Have you looked at the food allergies with your son's migraines? It sounds rather like soy or wheat protein problems: these are popping up all over the place these days. They're often a trial to track down, (and not much fun to find out about and live with) ...but they do crop up a lot, as something conventional Western medicine doesn't like to look at. )
Thanks for the thought, yeah, been there done that (though I suppose it was half assed), cut out wheat for 6 months or so, and soy.

yeah, but who cares. I started the decade in the office, waiting for the world to crash around us. Got a nifty focus-free vivitar camera + grey market (from some mid-eastern country, Iraq?) film, they gave these out so we could snap pictures of each other having fun in the office on Y2K night.

My understanding is that halfass doesn't cut it on this. It's a *real* pain to do it right, and you never know if its even the right thing till it starts working. Have you tried cutting out the prepackaged food in general? If it's not something 'big,' it could be among the myriad chemicals you have a hard time not ingesting every day. A lot of people are all toxified to the point of un-researched sensitivities. This is kind of the generation after a lot of blithe chemical-it's-progress exposure, and there's all manner of things cropping up.

AFAIK, it probably couldn't be nightshades (with a big AFAIK on that: next logical place to look, though.) With migraines, it could possibly be like the BGH'es or other hormonal things that are all over the place in the meat and dairy. People 'our' rough age got cooked all kinds of, err, 'interesting' ways no one had 'proven' was harmful, ..the next generation, well.

Tried eating strictly-organic for a week or two? That'd at least narrow things down if it works.

(Conversely, there's nothing you particularly *avoid* in the family diet, as a general practice?)

On the cherry juice thing, though, this is about the most pleasant arthritis-mitigating thing out there, if you can get it: A little club soda, a little stir... Won't exactly rebuild your knees, but it's very good.

Not too bad personally....good health and wealth for my needs. My Dad died, I'll never really get over that, but my Mom is in great health at 83. My oldest Grandson entered College......my youngest Grandson was born......My wife didn't leave me, despite the threats....and who would have blamed her! I got my first Digital camera and found a new love in Photography....lived long enough to collect Social Security and Medicare, and found that I can work a little or none at all and do just fine. Lost some great friends to illness and accident, but gained some great new ones.....some right here. All in all, not bad, no not at all.....and I thank God for it...and leave this decade still able to say that, so it isn't a total loss is it?

Regards and Best Wishes to all here, and a particular wish for the full recovery of George.
Rupert

And as I leave this decade I leave with a new Lunch Partner, and daily dose of Sunshine that I hope will shine on into the New Year.....
My Dolly!

I's mending. Able to put a little weight on it today. As for cherries, never worked for me. And I've tried other types of home remedies with little help. Only thing medicine has is indomecithan. And that tears your stomach up so you need to eat when taking.

Rupert, how come we never see your kids/grandkids? Always Dolly. You ashamed of the family? Or maybe she's your illigitimate love child. That's it. Wait. Why would someone want to have your lovechild? You're a plumber.

Well ... let's see.
Where the hell did the last decade go.

I moved out of home while the Olympics were on in Sydney.
Lost a few years partying/going out with mates.
Met my parter ... eventually getting married ... and having our first child this year.
Bought our first home and moved out of surburbia completely.
A few family members passed away (mainly due to age really) ... not as bad at the previous decade though ... that started off with the passing of my Dad when I was 13 (and he was 40).
Took up photography ... and found my way here.

Where or where has the time gone.

Had my ups and downs ... but all in all the good definitely out-weighed the bad.

My decade: started out with the birth of my identical twins (boys numbers 4 and 5), in Oregon. Moved to Georgia, then to Texas, then to Virginia, all in less than the first half. Got to go to London twice and found there my city soul-mate if there is such a thing. Got to take the first ever family vacation that didn't revolve around a relocation (even if it did result in thieves relieving me and my twins of our clothing and lots of my camera gear, it was still a really cool trip) seeing places I've never seen before. Discovered the joys of New York City (seriously. I LOVE it there!). AND, finally made the jump from film to digital in the way I wanted to (DSLR) and rediscovered my passion for photography, and have since completely thrown myself into it.

Best of all? All the new, wonderful friends I've made here on this forum (sniff).

I was only 15 ten years ago, so it's been a wild ride. Got to do some travel to SE Asia when I was 19, got hooked, went back to Asia to travel in Laos, Japan, Myanmar and then met my, (now), wife in Tibet. I came home for one year then went back to China, (for the girl), to live for one year and taught English in a kindergarten which I came to love. The kids really did bring some joy and innocence into my life in China. The ridiculous population, nearly year round searing heat & pollution were things that made me want to click my heels sometimes. Photography also kept me occupied over there and I learnt a great deal in a short time. My Pentax was purchased a couple of weeks before I left. Living in a city with a population of over 12 million, naturally, I got into street and people photography.

Have been back in Aus now for 6 months. In that time i've bought a Kawasaki sportsbike and got married

Unfortunately my photography has taken a dive in regards to shutter actuations. There are not enough people around me to shoot like there was in China.
