A British journalist was killed alongside a US marine in an attack on a military *convoy in Afghanistan in a blast that injured several other people, including a photographer.

Why ironic? You can get killed there in a burka pushing a wheel chair with a child in it. Just askin.

An element of risk just being in the country exists, but always sad to hear of such losses.
Not to hijack the thread, but the risk is sobering from the story from last year of 7 top CIA agents perishing in Afghanistan under the deception of a Jordanian double agent, a bloody doctor whose allegiance to al-Qaeda never waned, targeting the CIA agents in a suicide bombing...

The last issue of BJP ran a thought provoking article about photography in the various wars in the Middle East-

BJP

Not quite sure whether it has a bearing on the present unfortunate circumstances but it does question the role, reason and eventual influence of photographers in these conflicts.
