The only thing is, this 'league's' agenda *really is racist.*
Sort of an 'affirmative action' thing for non-African-American-really-tall-guy roundball players, would almost make sense, until you realize it'd be saner to just skip the race thing and have height classes like boxing does. Or raise the *basket,* cause the game wasn't designed for a league full of people who can dunk on tiptoes.
But it's not that, is it? It's *non-immigrant-whites* only, what these folks are doing.
I got a friend who's seven feet tall. White guy. Dresses kind of hippie. People assume he plays basketball every day of his life.
There's that NBA guy from China (Yao Ming?) that was in all the commercials a couple of years ago. Also not-black. Also happens to be something like better than seven feet *tall.*
The way the game goes in the NBA isn't about race. It's cause they can generally have the like three hundred tallest basketball players in the country. A lot of them are going to be black, cause, quite frankly, 'tall and lean' isn't exactly much of a survival advantage in places where you live by keeping your extremities close to your core temperature.
Nowadays, of course, all these 'role models' are on steroids, anyway, and all the kids have been getting Bovine Growth Hormone, like it or not, for years. Still, in basketball, height is an advantage, one that the professional business of pro sports won't give up.
If they wanted to be about 'technical basketball,' (backhanded way of saying black people are stupid) they wouldn't have made it about *race or immigrant status.* They'd have made it about *height.*
