It would be about as common as a gun on the ground. That was my point. :-)

I find it fascinating how most people who are not from the US or don't live here think that the majority of Americans own and carry guns everywhere we go.

Gun ownership is a tiny minority of people and most of us have never seen a gun in real life, let alone held or fired one.

Well, imagine what your view of American gun ownership would be if it was based on a combination of Hollywood action movies and Westerns with the occasional foreign news story about workplace, gang, school or vigilante shootings in the US thrown in and you'll have a pretty good idea of where the stereotype comes from. TV shows don't help either; Miami Vice, Law & Order and CSI don't exactly paint a picture of a gun free America.

From your perspective that may be true. But mine is that almost everyone I know has at least a few guns, and a good number of those people actually carry them with them at all times. And in case you're wondering, these people are not law enforcement, PI's, or security people. These are just average, normal, everyday people.

I have to agree. Most people I know own multiple firearms and many of them (non-law enforcement) carry on a daily basis and think nothing of it.

Gun Control

1993-94
49% of households had guns 31% of adults owned guns.
Hardly a "tiny minority" and it has gone up since then. I went up very sharply starting on the morning of Nov 5, 2008.

Gun Control

I have to agree with alohadave, the impression I get is that everyone of the majority of people in the US own or can access a guns fairly easily.

The media have a lot to do with what people hear and see. I understand news is news but they seem to give some of these boneheads to much free publicity when someone is shot or killed.

I think they should trade the guns in and shoot with a "Pentax", much nicer result!
