DPReview blocks pentaxforums?

I just tried posting a link to the pentaxforums over at the DPR forums, but the final message shows a big red 'blocked URL'. What the hell is up with that?

I'm not sure if that's a new thing or not.

I take it as a compliment.

I'm sure there is a workaround.

.

Not really - the workaround I use is to put a space in place of the first dot in www dot pentaxforums dot com, and then tell people to replace the space with the dot after pasting the whole URL into the browser bar. PITA.

It's nothing new- they are jealous.

To get around this, use our IP, 74.86.168.180 - so i.e. you could post http://74.86.168.180/index.html or any other path.

Really? I didn't know any real Pentaxians even went to DPR anymore? They fight and bicker over there worse than the Gen Forum ever does here......and they hate my Squirrels too! My Squirrels like it here, and are treated very well....except for George, that always wants to cook them. DPR bans you if you have a brain.....even a tiny one like a Squirrel. No wonder many of us are proud of being banned from that hellhole.
Regards!

Is e-p1.net 'no advertising' as well?

Maybe their advertisers don't like private competition.

Not sure what that means, there's a single Google Adsense block on there.

DPR is multi platform, I assume that their advertising revenue is based on traffic (to an extent). PF doesn't have any advertising and has quite a large member base. As PF gets more traffic that may affect DPR's traffic volumes, a link to PF from DPR means possible traffic and revenue lost.
Maybe DPR is blocking all links.

I don't think so, I've seen others that work (43rumors for example) but e-p1.net was created at the same time as their new Micro Four Thirds board, so they might see it as competition (considering it has almost 2,000 members now)

No they only block selective links but they block other links (mostly what they feel are competing sites). Do not remember the others specifically but I believe stevesdigicams is one and letsgodigital may be another but I'm not positive. One link is blocked due to the site not adhering to a news embargo and beating out Phil because of it... he was annoyed.

If a block link comes up you can also go to "quote" and there the full link is visible...
