That's the exception that proves the point, only you remember it.

:P

That would have been such the alley-oop if it wasn't just Brit teasing.

I do notice I never thought to question his assertion he had six bathrooms, though. Heh.

That's only for Republican senators! It's how they 'know' how 'awful' a gal's 'lifestyle' is.

I learned where babies came from in a public bathroom.

There's some kind of bizarre linkage between potty issues and sexuality among certain arbiters of 'absolute morality.'

Dirty, dirty boys. They want to keep it that way, you see.

What would these homophobes do if they wanted a dirty, shameful, closeted 'lifestyle' to go play in, (and spank themselves about later) and no one was *there?*

Flash not be so important when HTML5 gets full implementation across the web.

Key word: "when"

This thing comes out in a couple months... flash won't be eradicated for a couple more years at least, and many sites rely entirely upon it right now.

Engadget's hands-on reaction (they're generally slightly Apple-biased):

QuoteQuote:
* It's not light. It feels pretty weighty in your hand.
* The screen is stunning, and it's 1024 x 768. Feels just like a huge iPhone in your hands.
* The speed of the CPU is something to be marveled at. It is blazingly fast from what we can tell. Webpages loaded up super fast, and scrolling was without a hiccup. Moving into and out of apps was a breeze. Everything flew.
* There's no multitasking at all. It's a real disappointment. All this power and very little you can do with it at once. No multitasking means no streaming Pandora when you're working in Pages... you can figure it out. It's a real setback for this device.
* The ebook implementation is about as close as you can get to reading without a stack of bound paper in your hand. The visual stuff really helps flesh out the experience. It may be just for show, but it counts here.
* No camera. None, nada. Zip. No video conferencing here folks. Hell, it doesn't have an SMS app!
* It's running iPhone OS 3.2.
* The keyboard is good, not great. Not quite as responsive as it looked in the demos.
* No Flash confirmed. So Hulu is out for you, folks!

I still think it's a good concept. I like it a lot better than trying to separate Iphones and kindles and Netbooks. I'm still partially-analog, and the digital age has me carrying around enough extra stuff as it is.

and... "no camera?" Ye Gods, people. I'm already carrying at least two.

Well, it's only something that has been available as standard since 1970ies in decent operating systems on systems thousands times less powerful than the iPad. That's what, 40 years?

I wish it were so (seriously). And does the Safari on this support HTML 5 / Ogg?

While Jobs himself said netbooks are just low-end laptops.

If it were fairly shock proof and somebody put Linux on it or at least it was jailbroken, I'd at least inquire about the price.

Until then, I have no interest being tied down to another Apple product with Jobs saying what I can and cannot install on my hardware. I have enough trouble as it is upgrading my iPhone OS while keeping it unlocked.

I'll stick with my X41 tablet

Interesting enough, the tablet market may be revived with this release from Apple!

Another unnecessary and unneeded cheap 5 cent invested "invention" from a big company. Are they seriously trying to sell it for the same price of something that is already better that exists for much longer now? Just get yourself a laptop and you have everything this iPad could do but much better.
