Apple intros iPad

This thing really is the Jesus Tablet.

Apple - iPad - The best way to experience the web, email, & photos

They are even going to sell a camera connection kit so you can sync your photos directly to the tablet.

Starting at $499. $629 for a 3G version. This thing is going to kill the netbook.

I was actually underwhelmed by it. I guess you could say it makes a compelling high battery life large screened ipod, or a low battery life ebook. The storage for syncing to a camera is too expensive to be that useful, and you can't edit. Would be interesting for uploading to photo sharing sites though, though at 3g speeds.

I won't buy it.

Well, I never had any kind of desire to kill netbooks, but I think at first glance, they have hit a place where tech gets good. It's not about the 'new things,' It's about putting em together.

I always stay behind the curve, let someone else be the guinea pig, (Can't afford even iphone service, but there we are) I can see very useful things coming of this.

sounds like a tampon..

also i'm hearing that it still cant handle flash... so its just an oversized ipod, which isnt a bad thing.. but still.

also the 64gb version is not cheap... i wonder if they will hack it with a 3rd party OS.

Ho hum. Another toy we don't need people to be messing with as they drive.

I'm not interested in one myself. At least until it's been out a while and gets flash running on it. I think it's actually not bad for the price. I'd rather have it than a netbook. And comparing the price to a kindle it looks even better for the 16GB model. The data plan deals are pretty good, 30 bucks for all you can eat without a contract is nice. It would be tempting if they'd do that for the iPhone.

Wow. Hrm. I dunno about picking at the scabs of misogyny, on this point, is all.

Don't call it an 'iPad,' then. How about "UltraTestoBadass X2 Magnum!"

that is bad. washingtonpost.com
still no flash. i don't understand who would be the target consumer for such a device. and the 3G versions are not cheap either. you don't want to carry a phone which is a size of a slate. can it atleast work as a universal remote control with touch screen? that would be cool. but i don't think it has IR device
all in all nothing exiting for me.

They're not known for getting things wrong. I'm sure their initial target market (Apple die-hards, gadget junkies, those that want more than just a Kindle) will buy it in substantial numbers.
Those who want more functionality (the ones who are most demanding and least profitable) will have to wait for subsequent versions for that functionality to trickle in.
