Hi,
Im a n00bie to the forum. I found the forums through a link on an ebay ad for a polaris lens. Anybody here know anything about this lens? I found some articles, but want to know if it will fit my EOS 20D (dSLR).

here's the link

eBay: Polaris 300mm lens, canon mount, mint condition! (item 290132887749 end time Jul-05-07 10:43:05 PDT)

I want to use this for some outdoor photography.
thanks

We've got a few Canon users on the forum that might be able to help you. Thread moved- the marketplace forum is not intended for item discussion.

Looking at the auction:

They link to a pentaxforums "post your shots" thread.

Auction mentions adapters for other cameras - my guess is that it's an M42 screwmount with a Canon adapter.

In which case it was an even worse idea to mention that eBay auction here, since we can use it if it is screwmount.

I wonder how someone can link to photo's that aren't their own

shnykies, I've seen great photo's taken with similar glass, however in my opinion there is a quality difference between individual lenses.
If you can ask that person to post some photo's actually taken with that lens.
If he can't it might be a lemon (or he might be a film guy without a scanner)

Although for that price it's worth the risk

I don't see anything wrong with mentioning the eekbay auction here.
It gives members that might also want the lens a chance to bid on it.
They can change the adapter easily enough

Thanks Entropy and Little Laker.
Yeah, he says it's screwmount with adapter for canon.
Thanks for the info!
