Surgery on Friday - Wish me luck

Back in September I was in a very serious motorcycle accident ( https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/general-talk/78203-3d-ct-scans-my-broken-...g-graphic.html ). Results of the accident included a broken collar bone, 7 broken ribs with 3 of them broken both in my back and in my chest), and my scapula (shoulder blade) was broken into about 6 pieces. I also suffered nerve damage and lost muscle control in the left side of my back. As a result of the injuries, for 3 months I was in a lot of pain and I was unable to use my left arm. Luckily after about 3 months the nerve and muscle function in my back returned and the pain went away.

For the past 2 and 1/2 months, I have been in physical therapy and have regained much of my strength. However, I still cannot raise my left arm much higher that shoulder level. The surgery I will undergo tomorrow will remove a lot of scar tissue from my left shoulder. Hopefully, after the surgery I will regain 90-100% of the motion in my left shoulder. That's the hope anyway.
Wish me luck.
Frank

Good luck to you.
I remember your posts from way back and now that you mention it I can't recall seeing much of you on PF. Hospitals suck so get out of there as soon as possible.

Good luck mate.

"Break a leg!" .... wait... that might not be so appropriate.

You'll be fine, I'm sure.

Hey Frank - the very best of luck, buddy. I gotta hand it to you: taking what was a real bummer of an experience and pressing on with guts and good humor.

Let's get that shoulder healed and you up an running - I wanna see more of your great pictures.

Dang Frank... Well good luck with the surgery... Make sure you take a sharpie and write "CUT HERE" on your left shoulder so they don't get confused and do a kidney transplant or something.

Thanks for the advice. I'm leaving for the hospital in about 5 minutes - I have to be there ate 5:45am. I'll have my wife write "Not this side on my right shoulder".

Thanks for all the good wishes, everyone. They are all greatly appreciated.

Good luck. Stay off the murdercycles at least on the highways. You can't win. All my friends have been racked up at one time or another.

I'm a rider myself & I don't think I could live without a motorbike again. As a rider, you accept that you face higher risks of serious injury.

Anyway, i'm sorry to hear about the accident and hope all goes well Frank.

Best wishes for a successful procedure and a quick recovery. I put almost a million miles on bikes in my younger days, and avoided injury, though some near catastrophies still make me uneasy when recalled. My worst injury came from falling off a roof (yes, plumbers do get on roofs) and shattering my right talus bone to dust and breaking my fibula and tibia in seven places. Got over it in time...you will too!
Regards!
