Just another Bush blunder Obama got stuck with.
These so called people should have been tried already.
Bush always was slow on justice.
Is there anything in US law that says a person has to be tried within a reasonable amount of time after being accused?
I'd be concerned that a judge would toss the prosecution because justice has not been done within a reasonable time frame.
We are, after all, coming up on 9 years since the attacks that they are alleged to have had a part in, and they have been sitting in limbo pretty much ever since.

Yes, there is. That is another reason why they have not been brought on to US soil. The big fear some have is that a judge will dismiss charges based on this very issue, not whether or not a jury will convict them. The Bush administration screwed up big time. The Obama administration has to deal with the consequences which is why they may be changing their minds on the issue.

That is splitting a mighty fine hair to say that because they have been held in an American prison in Cuba isn't the same thing as being held in an American prison.
This may be using the letter of the law to get around the spirit of the law.

A military tribunal may be the only way of making sure they get a trail at all.
