3yr old DEAD

A 3 yr old girl in Tenn. shot and killed herself with daddies gun, left on a table after a paranoid reaction to night noises.
( Dad thought someone was breaking in)
He left the gun on a table near the TV, and went back to bed.
My question is.
How do we keep guns away from idiots?
IQ tests for ownership?

Not just guns however. Down here a kid was playing with an old WWII grenade. That a relative had refilled. Moron. Kid plays with it and it went up. He's recovering. Fortunately. Charges will more than likely be filed against the adult who refilled.

Now George, you know I would never say anything like that to you......it sort of hurts my feelings, after all the nice things I have said about you. I'll consider that you didn't really mean that....it was just a case of your "Backward Thinking"?
Regards!

You can't idiot-proof everything. Tragedies are going to happen. A 3 year old is dead because her father made a stupid, horrible mistake. Humans do that. That's not to say there shouldn't be consequences but mistakes happen.

"Reckless endangerment" charges at a minimum... Manslaughter as well...

And for anyone who says "the father has been punished enough" he hasn't! Lock him up where he can't endanger any more kids.
