Slower 3G and no data while using voice. No LTE until iPhone 5.

Well! I got my iphone a few months ago, couldn't wait. I am not having any major issues with AT&T in my area.

On paper, CDMA 3G is slower than GSM 3G networks by.. Something like 15%, I think?
Pretty sure a Droid user would tell you that's a bunch of hogwash, however.

CDMA vs. UMTS: What's the Difference Between AT&T and Verizon's 3G Networks?

AT&T Roars Back in PCWorld?s Second 3G Wireless Performance Test - PCWorld

AT&T has HSPA capable of 7.1MBps and HSPA+ capable of 14.4MBps. Verizon's EVDO is only capable of 3.1MBps. Real life speeds are always slower.

The whole point is moot in a few years as LTE rolls out. But AT&T's fallback from LTE will still be faster than Verizon's.

Interesting. I'm getting 1300kbps down on my Droid 2, according to the Speedtest.net app.

Also, LTE has already started to roll out. Most major cities will be covered by the end of the year.

From wikipedia: "On January 6, 2011, Verizon Wireless announced that it plans to add more than 100 LTE markets to cover 175 million people by the end of 2011, have 2/3 of the US population covered by mid-2012, and provide nationwide coverage by the end of 2013."

Similar timetable for AT&T.

in the real world here in SoCal, AT&T's 3g is noticeably slower. Wifi on my friends Iphone 4 vs. 3g on my droid x is about equal.
