A huge giveaway to 3 winners: Two Pentax K-x's and a 17-70mm lens

In celebration of our upcoming 1,000,000-post milestone on the forums, we are hosting a giveaway of two Pentax K-x cameras as well as a third-place 17-70mm/4 lens through a small competition that will take place right here on the forum.



We are also proud to note that merely a year has passed since our half-million-post mark- thanks go to all the members who have made our community so strong over the past year!!

Who will win?

The winners of the competition will be the three members who whose posts contribute the most to the forum between April 8th 00:00:01 EDT and April 25th 11:59:59 EDT Post count and post length are factors; see below.

This is the algorithm for calculating each individual's contribution score:

Your score is calculated as follows:

Avg = ~425 (the average length of all forum posts, measured in characters of raw input)

Total1 = Total number of forum posts between April 8, 2010 and end of contest
Total2 = Bonus, which is incremented by the decimal percentage that any post exceeds Avg, times 0.85, for each of your posts that exceeds Avg in length
Total3 = Penalty, which is incremented by the decimal percentage that any post is below Avg, for each of your posts 65+% shorter than Avg

Final Score = Total1 + Total2 - Total3

The winners will be the three members with the highest Final Score.

How to Enter

To enter in the competition, please post a message as a reply to this this post. Once the millionth post is made and the week ends, we will tally all posts and announce the winners. Please note: posts over at canikonforums.com are also counted. However, posts made in News/Suggestions, General Talk, Politics, or the Marketplace do not count, nor do one-word replies or substance-less single-line posts just made to 'pad your postcount'. Users simply posting meaningless posts will be noted and disqualified.

Final Words

We hope that through this event, we will reach this special milestone much faster than otherwise at our normal average rate of 1,250 total daily posts! At that rate, the expected date would be April 30th. If we manage to push it back by a week, we may even offer a fourth prize We also hope that as a result of this event, we'll have two new and very happy K-x users! Third place will also win a 17-70mm lens prize from us!

The K-x's will be shipped to the winners directly from Pentax USA, as this event is officially sponsored by Pentax USA. The lens prize will be shipped to you by us. Note for international winners: you will have to cover the actual shipping costs.

i'll throw my hat in the ring but know I will not win since most of my posts are in the forbidden realms. I wonder however are these posts counted in the total count number for the forum? If they are why are these posters posts then not counted as valid?
