To leave the hood on and measure this pristine Sigma 150-500 HSM OS that I bought here from the forum.

This is 3 full sleeves of SMUs! I had to double up at the bottom because more than one box (two sleeves,) would not stay vertical and I am not gluing or melting my SMUs for a couple images! I ate the 4th sleeve while waiting over the last week for the lens to arrive. I also got a Desmond 115mm Arca plate for the foot since OS or not, 500mm is vulnerable to any unsteadiness in me. I am referring to physical instability that is.

You may want to try Oreo Thins for a standard. Being flat on both side they stack better. I'd post a photo, but, well, you know how it goes.

A brand new wipers linkage for my car.

PS: Always note the resting position of the motor arm, before removing it.

SOOC Test shot of Sun Stars!

As was the case with the Sigma 120-400 HSM, My new to me Sigma 150-500 creates nice 18 pointed sun stars at any aperture smaller than F/5. Here is a heavily cropped shot of my dirty glass float at 150mm F/7.1. Bokeh is not as nice as the 120-400, as it is busy at the aperture range where the lens is best. Weight seems a tiny bit lighter but it gets a lot longer when zoomed!

Never Oreos, thick or thin, I have been converted to the Trader Joe's version called Jo-Jos since they have none of the wacky four letter chemical compounds that don't sound like food in them. I have a box of Choco-Liebnitz but at what those cost I would add another 15 bucks to the price of the lens just for the post here in the forums! They work out to 18 cents a cookie!

Fed Ex stopped by today with two boxes from B&H Photo

Item of the first part - External microphone for my Panasonic FZ1000
Item of the second part - Extra battery for said camera.
Item of the third part - Vello cable release for said camera. I have had good luck with these. Can't beat the price.

Item of the fourth part - Vello screen shade for said camera. Fits like a glove.

Item of the fifth part - E-Image GH03 fluid head. - much bigger than I thought but I'll live with it for the price. Seems to work as advertised.

Now to wait for the freezing rain to stop so I can go out and practice a bit of video. No idea what I am doing but just an old dog trying to learn a few new tricks.

I recently acquired the pieces and built an offsite backup system with 16TB of storage. I have onsite backup but with so many photos I wanted something offsite in case of fire or flood.
I got a little mini Windows 10 PC, a USB temperature sensor (just to make sure it's not overheating), a power strip, two 8TB external drives, and put it all in a storage box from WalMart that I drilled holes in to keep it ventilated.
The backup is a simple sync of folders that I seeded locally with MS SyncToy and then keep in sync using Resilio Sync.

I put it in my brother's place. So far it seems to work well. It only syncs during off hours and is also throttled so it won't saturate his Internet connection.
I'm pretty pleased with how the project worked out!

Fused battery cover with green corrosion leaking out. No surprise there. Didn't have a lens so a 55/2 with sluggish blades will have to do.

Takumar 55/2.2

I had one of those and it was a very good lens, one of the best 135mm ones I've tried. I sold mine though as I rarely use such long focal lengths, so that leaves the 105/2.8 as my longest M42 lens.

I'll be interested to see what you think of the K 35mm as I use the M version a lot, it's one of my favourite primes. Apparently the K version is better still.

I think you'll find that the grip improves the K-3's handling, especially when using manual lenses.

Raining heavily so I didn't go to Portobello Road market - instead I've been sorting out the lenses I got on ebay a few days ago, which arrived yesterday:

Hanimex auto 135/2.8 M42 - good condition
Pentacon 3.5/30 M42 manual - good condition, very clean
Hoya 75mm/4.5 enlarging lens - good condition, in original box etc.
Prinz Galaxy 135/3.5 T-mount - excellent condition, very clean
Sigma 70-210 for Minolta AF - clean and works well on Sony Alpha, a bit battered cosmetically
Sigma 35-80 for Minolta AF - optically good and work on Sony Alpha, has the dreaded sticky black coating problem
and the hall of shame
Pentacon 1.8/50 M42 - clean but won't stop down
Prinzflex 135/2.8 M42 - bad fungus
Two Hanimex 80-200 4.5 M42, one with light fungus, the other severe fungus

I'll probably break even or make a small profit when I sell them, but it isn't as good as I was hoping. Oddly, the two manual-aperture lenses will probably be the big sellers, the Prinz Galaxy 135/3.5 is very small for a 135 and liked by Micro 4/3 people, the Pentacon 30mm seems to have lots of fans though I'm not sure why.
