Makes good sense to me. I have thought of the 3rd reason but not numbers # 1 and 2 .

I find when I use my DSLR, particularly the ones with a battery grip added...it's hard for me to be stealthy ...which could be something to do with the fact that I'm a bit on the extra large side, rather than the bulk of the DSLR.

I've recently acquired a very small camera (GR ll) and once it warms up out here and I can outside again ...I will find out whether my past stealth attempts have failed miserably...due to my DSLRs or if.... it's just a case of..... me.....and my shadow.....strolling down the avenue.

Apologies to Perry Como.

I find not much difference between my xe2 which is blacked out with the 27mm and the xe3 which isn't blacked out with the same lens. larger lenses though definitely draw attention . I wish i could pair my XE3 with a DA21 ltd (with af and no need for adaptors) it would be a great street tool. the XT100t (well all x100 cameras really) is superb that way

Recently received two Genesis 200 monolights with three stands, two umbrellas, gels, barn doors, honeycomb grid, and a rolling carry case. Now i have a nice set of four lights and two cases for transport.

Another job lot, all M42 lenses:

Pentacon 50mm f1.8 - a couple of very small fungus specks inside, nothing that effects results
Helios 44-2 58mm f2 - Iris fault, a couple of blades out of position, otherwise OK
Cosinon 55mm f2.8 - slightly hazy but very good cosmetically and gives OK results. This is the one with the weird "turn both ways" aperture ring I had once before, but in MUCH better condition.

Palar Auto Wide 35mm f2.8 - slightly gritty focusing but otherwise pretty good
Domiplan 50mm f2.8 - VERY nice condition, think it's the best I've seen since I started selling lenses.
Prinzflex 35mm f2.8 - won't focus to infinity for some reason.

The lot cost £41 including postage, I expect to make a modest profit - would have been a lot less modest if the Helios was better, of course!

And I found another Sigma DC 55-200mm 4-5.6 on a charity web site for £26.45 including P&P, the last one I had gave very good results:

Sigma 55-200 4-5.6 DC on Eos 400D | Flickr

Should get it some time next week.

Also bought a Belkin gigabit network switch to replace my existing one which is overheating, £12.97 including postage.

I got some stuff to switch from Manfrotto RC2 quick release heads and plates to an Arca Swiss solution.
The reason was I couldn't a good enough L plate with RC2 plates for my K-1. The one I had (DBLP-1 from eBay) needed to be cut down to not block the battery door but otherwise worked well with my ball heads. Then I got a Manfrotto XPRO geared head and the L-plate on my camera had a little bit of play between it and that particular head. That interface was important to me for real estate photography (and peace of mind) so I decided to get the well-reviewed (and pricey) RRS L-Plate which only comes in Arca Swiss mount.
Of course I needed some new clamps and a new geared head since the clamp on the one I had is not replaceable.
So my package arrived today with the following:

RRS BK1-L L-plate
Benro GD3WH geared head
Sunwayfoto Arca & Manfrotto Compatible Clamp to replace the clamp on another tripod with a Manfrotto ball head.

The L-Plate is beautiful and a perfect fit.
The head seems nice and solid with a lot more metal than the old Manfrotto.
The new clamp looks great but I need one more piece, a Boss Adapter to make it fit my ballhead securely (wish I knew this before) so I have one of those on the way now too.

Overall this stuff all seems solid and nice.

K-r, Tamron 17-50/2.8 & 18-200 plus a nice little compact tripod were received today from mlynch53 (Mike) for my daughter. She decided that the Q7 in yellow was just too weird and small for her and she wanted a "read dSLR". So, when Mike posted the ideal setup for her at a reasonable price I jumped on it! She's thrilled, I'm happy, and now I need to know what to do with a Q7 in yellow with <600 shutter activations??

Pulled trigger on Pentax 67 45mm f 4.0

As stated previously, I have basically finished purchasing lenses, but made an exception for a bargain priced Pentax 67 45mm f 4.0, widest in the Pentax 67 range except for the 35mm fisheye. This is from Japan where they seem to treat lenses like fine jewelry, and is described as Excellent ++++, whatever that may mean. This may well be my last lens purchase.

Steve
Thanks found it.

Someone at mflenses forum took one apart and found the fourth element.
http://forum.mflenses.com/riconar-55mm-f-2-2-t77166.html#1524009 There are two elements in a center group (not cemented but attached in the same assembly).

An annoying day in the car boot and pawn shop mines. A little money lost and a lot of time wasted...

Got one T-mount 35mm lens with a defective focusing mechanism that I wanted to try to convert into a perspective effect lens, later discovered that it also has an inoperative iris (VERY rare on T-mount lenses) - the cause is deep in the lens and precludes converting it the way I intended. Cost £3, only the T-mount is actually useful.
Also something that I thought was a YS mount in M42, turned out to be a short M42 auto extension tube of unusual design that happened to look like a YS mount. Cost £1.
Then I went to a Cash Converters shop and saw a set of 52mm close up lenses for £1.49, which would have been worth buying, but when they tried to sell it to me they couldn't find it on the computer, and since the manager wasn't there wouldn't sell it to me. By chance I'll be going that way again on Monday, hopefully I'll get it then if it isn't repriced at a fiver or something.

Later - and just found a VERY nice bonus from last week's car boot sales, something I forgot to mention; there was a 77mm ND filter in the assorted stuff I got for Nikon, I didn't really think about it or mention it because it was incidental to the hood and converters etc. Except that it turns out to be a Haida ND 3.0, which gives a 10-stop light reduction, and they sell for about £35! I probably won't get anything like that for it since it's used, but hopefully I'll clear a tenner, which will pay for the entire lot.

Today was rather better:
A Canon Eos 500 with a 35-80 lens, filters, cap and original case for £10, all working well and very clean
Two 52mm polarisers and a 55mm UV filter for £2
and another firewire hard drive, a firewire cable, an Apple laptop charger mains lead, and an Apple remote control for a total of £4.50

The USPS was kind to me today. Package from Japan arrived a week early Pentax can't seem to stock diopter units in the US so thank goodness for Amazon Marketplace and direct purchases from lovely camera stores in Japan! Also, really good price at Amazon on the fastest write speed U3 SDXC card.

Focus below is on the label so that if others want to order they have both the Pentax Model # and the SKU.
Please, write how the new viewfinder works in practice.
Does it really help at work and how much it reduces the field of view. I have been thinking about this purchase for a long time.

Perfectly. No field restriction. It replaces the eye cup and makes it so I don't need my glasses! 😎
