kodak retina Ia ~had a stuck shutter functions fine now and cleaned up beautifully......such a slick little camera

some unknown 120 film body that had its lens/shutter removed.....cleaned up nice will display closed until I can figure out what lens to attach....may do something silly and get something from a 620 body throw it on there and see what happens.....

so that is why I offered $35, expecting him to say no

I am a firm believer that a seller never loses money, if the offer is too low, no sale
Sorry the way I read it you offered him $40 twice.

my intent was to get him down to the price that the ladies had offered it to me the day before - $40

then the bargaining would start.

so yes, every time he said $80, I said $40

everything I have read about their culture, and have been told about their culture from a Tanzanian guide of 30 years experience

and a man who led 130 trips to Africa in 40 years informed me not to accept the first price but to bargain

if they didn't want to bargain, they would not do so.

I considered the first price offered to me as $40

______________________

now had he said " the ladies made a mistake on the price when they offered it to me for $40 ",

instead of lying to me by saying they didn't understand English, I would not have bargained at all.

I was at the Lodge for 3 nights, I talked to the ladies, I saw other people talk to the ladies

they had no problem with the English language.

Today I got this in tan/grey for K3 and it seems quite nice:
Cuff Camera Wrist Strap | Peak Design Official Site

Few weeks ago I got RNI Films CC - 01 film profiles. Not the lightroom preset ones but the ones which work like lightroom camera profiles, with an intensity slider. The product is still in early adopter phase and has only 8 different film profiles in it atm. but so far it has been a game changer in my post processing.
Much less time in post processing to get the finished look. No need to go into photoshop & NIK collection anymore for most of the photos.

“ I wasn't interested really in the spear just the visual interaction between the women and the guy”

“I felt obligated to buy it”

Again, my “personal” reaction is that it wasn’t a comfortable experience on either side and probably best avoided by a firm but polite “No thank you I’m not interested”

As for your previous (deleted) comment about the buyer chooses whether to sell or not, that’s a perfectly acceptable attitude when your dealing within the richest nation in the world but elsewhere different standards and pressures can apply.

:cheesy:
nope

but the local repair guy I am using is very optimistic

and if he can fix it, it will save me big bucks over Precision-Camera based on what I have read of the experience of others

he believes that screws were stripped and that caused the problem

he believes he can fix that with retapping and over size screws

bent mental rod was detached, he will either straighten it or try to find replacement

then he needs to check the " mechanics " focusing etc

if all goes well

he believes it will cost me less than $400.

wish me luck
