Fuji xe-1, £125 from wex. Boom! Cheap rangefinder for your lens
You'll enjoy the Fujifilm, I'm sure. They're great for old manual lenses and if you get any of the Fujifilm primes beware, they're sort-of like the Limiteds....

I just placed an order for a Sigma 28-135mm f/3.8-5.6 Aspherical. It's not the type of lens I commonly use so might get sold on later but it seems to get reasonably decent reviews online and it should be handy to have a lens with a decent range on both film and digital.

I had a Fujinon 55mm f2 recently, didn't really think it was anything special but it sold for £36 - and the body it came from, an ST605, for £26, and it wasn't even the right camera for the lens since it didn't support their M42 open aperture metering system. They're nice enough cameras, I suppose, but the prices seem a bit high. Not that I'm complaining...

Oh shit.

(Sorry, I really couldn't resist.)

@monochrome: Reminds me of my dealerships. A Renault dealership told me it was going to get really expensive, to then proceed by saying they could fix it with something like a wooden stick, free of charge. Obviously, I kept going there again and again. And my VW dealership started by entertaining me with test drives when they were fully aware that I wasn't going to buy a car from them, because the options I wanted weren't available in the cars they had for sale. Once I bought that car in another town, I went to this dealership for service (when many go to third party workshops). The service was really good, and when I thought the absorbers had to be replaced, they had a look and told me all that was missing was some lubrication. They did that free of charge. When they messed up something, they owned up to it (with me actually benefitting). So yeah, I'll continue going there, even when I know that other workshops will do the servicing for less. And if possible, my next car will be from them. Good service and a trustworthy company that doesn't try to screw you is way more important than saving a few dollars.

The Ryzen 9 3900X is performing like a champ at 4.3 GHz all core. Nice. I've finally won the silicon lottery, after a rather disappointing Ryzen 5 3600 that barely managed 4,05 GHz all core.

There's a passage in a book that I used to like but always found unlucky,* Zen and the Art of Motor-Cycle Maintenance, in which one of the characters mentions that he once fixed a slipping handlebar with a shim made out of a bit of an aluminium can, and the guy who owned the bike was unhappy because it wasn't an official spare part for the bike, and was therefore not showing the attitude of a true biker. There is a lot of this snobbery around. Justified occasionally in the case of essential components, but mostly not. Of course there's similar snobbery for "real" camera straps and cases (using a camera maker's official canvas bag will not help you take better pictures), computer accessories, etc.

* my motorbikes invariably broke down within days of my reading it. Maybe because they were often held together with bits of old aluminium cans etc....

^^ My Honda dealer just glued a penny inside the driver’s door of my Accord to stop the interior lights randomly coming on while driving.

Looks as though it needs new seals, especially the one in the mirror compartment, but I'm tempted to try it out anyway. New batteries arriving Friday but tested with some from my OH's SLR and meter appears to work without any issues whatsoever!

Excited to put my first roll of film (ever) through it.

Photo taken with the Tamron Adaptall 35-70mm f/3.5 which came with it, even though I've taken a somewhat instant dislike to the lens.

New cell phone today

My step children bought me a new iPhone 11 for Christmas and transferred all the files into it from my old iPhone 6.

I got a GRii!!! So excited. I tried for a while using my K-30 and DA21 as a walkaround camera but it was too heavy and too bulky to by convenient, but I really found myself wanting a good snapshot camera. I've been playing around with it for a couple days now and it's taking my back to my point and shoot days, which I loved!

I'll wager that the prospect of having all your old files on the new phone is more pleasing than just having a new phone...! There is nothing worse than getting a new laptop or phone and having to spend all that time arranging the software that you knew and loved on the new device

Won a Pentax telephoto

Hey, I am the lucky winner of the Pentax-FA 645 400mm f 5.6 at a real competitive price ($282 plus tax and postage) and marked by seller as Mint++++ whatever that may mean. This will give me a little more reach than the FA*300, and I can only hope the optical quality is as good as the 300.

Finally got hands on a pair of these... Lady Kerrowdown intercepted and wrapped these in some Christmas paper.
