M decided that my flip-open phone was too antediluvian, so she gave me an iPhone for Xmas. Now she needs to teach me how to use it.

Quickest way is to hire a teenager, although they may tend to focus on apps that are not necessarily your immediate desire....

There’s a green square with a telephone handset icon at the bottom. Touch that and the telephone keypad appears.

Everything else is superfluous.

I still miss my ancient flip phone. I had to give it up when all the cellular companies went digital. Fit easily into a shirt pocket.

During the course of several years volunteering at a senior living facility, I found the non-phone functions of my smartphone to be essential. This includes potentially saving the life of an octogenarian whose doctor screwed up her meds, two of which were contraindicated.

Drugs.com gets lots of use on my iPhone SE. But it sure doesn't fit into a shirt pocket!

There are so many different meds and so many different names for the same med it boggles the mind My Moto G5+ doesn't fit into a shirt pocket, either, but it has been indispensable for me. I even have the Taber's Medical Dictionary App installed on it.

I'm not a gung-ho technology guy and have never embraced "phone culture", but sometimes a smartphone is just darn useful.

There's an advertisement running now on TV with the claim that medical "malpractice" (= errors) is the third leading cause of death in the USA after heart attacks (= probably any & all circulatory events) and cancer.

My LBA has added a CBA section! Two separate eBay auctions, Spotmatic SPIIa/Super-Multi-Coated Takumar 55/1.8 & 135/3.5 in one and an Auto Takumar 35/3.5 with case in the other. Postage, tax and shipping I have $27.27 per item ($109.08 total) invested. I cleaned them up. The lenses have nearly perfect glass! Dented filter ring on the 55 is the only demerit. The 35 needs new lube in the Focusing assembly as it is stiff.
The SPIIa is the real surprise. The auction photos showed it covered in what looked like whitish mold and in untested condition. Well, whatever was on the SPIIa wiped right off. The finder and insides are clean, the shutter seems right on and it sounds fantastic. I wish the SMC-A lenses and 1980’s Pentax cameras I buy would check out this well. Please excuse the quick and easy iPad photos!!

Are you suggesting my handle has just dropped a fresh "steamer"?
US farmer slang for a fresh cow patty. Lol

I had never heard that! Up here we call them prairie frisbees. I was alluding to the fact that I am a steam nut too!
