You can get an adapter with bayonet mount on one end and male filter threads on the other and securely mount the lens reversed.
Wow - I guess this is a thing I wasn't privy to! Thanks guys, now to spend more money!

2004 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE EXT Cab Z-71 4X4 truck. Replacing my increasingly troublesome 2009 Crown Victoria Police Interceptor. I’m 6ft 3 in. tall and FAT. Climbing down into and getting up out of the low CVPI is for the birds. I am trying to de-acquire the Vic, so what did it do? Blew an axle bearing two days ago.

Off topic but, how do you technically reverse mount it?
The reverse mount is a K mount with an appropriate sized filter thread on the lens side and no glass in it. The lens mounts on the reverse mount by screwing the mount into the lens' filter threads, then mounting to the camera body. It's tricky to get focus because the depth of field is almost infinitesimal, and the body is very close to everything so the lighting is tricky as well.

Some years back a coworker had taken a wedding ring to a jeweller to be resized and when she got it back, it was badly scratched. The jeweller would do nothing so it was off to small debts court. She asked if I could get decent photos of the damage on the ring. I reversed the M 28/3.5 giving ~ 2.1x magnification and enlarged it to 8x10. When she showed up in court, she pulled out the print and the jeweller folded.
Hah! That's awesome

300mm F4 arrived today. I have to say that Ricoh packed it very well. Lens in box crammed with bubble wrap. That box in a much bigger box a packed with paper. Lens arrived safe and seems to work fine. I kept the SMU's packed so they could be stacked without falling.

I want it. Not the lens, you can keep that. I want the thin mints. Haven't gotten any girl scout cookies since my sister aged out a few years ago.

Ricoh Rikenon 35 - 70 zoom. Sorry no photo as I have no acceptable SMU in the house.

It's seen better days, if it was a book the outer condition may be described as "foxed" and it's missing the rubber focus ring. The glass however is clean and blemish free so the price of $25 is reasonable in my mind.

Ran a couple of test shots, accepting it as manual focus only the images look pretty decent. The primary reason for purchase was to use as a substitute for the fixed 50 currently on my bellows, it now gives me a bit more flexibility in terms of tweaking the magnification without changing lenses and the 35 mm end of the spectrum can be useful in a landscape scenario.

I picked up a Tokina 400mm f/5.6 today. At first I thought it was broken, because turning the focus ring does not result in any visible movement. Could such an old thing have internal focus? I mounted it on a camera and it turns out that is does indeed have internal focus. I didn't need it but it was a good deal. It is quite a bit smaller and lighter than my SMC Pentax A 400mm f/5.6. Smaller and lighter is good - we'll see about image quality.
