I have now tested the 1.7x AF Adapter with my SMC Pentax K 135mm f/3.5, K 200mm f/2.5 and A 400mm f/5.6 lenses. All worked well. What did not work was a Tokina RMC 400mm f/5.6 - not enough contrast, I suppose. All in all a good result.

The A 400mm is quite a bonus. I wasn't really expecting that. With an equivalent focal length on APS-C of 1000mm, I can now start shooting birds in earnest.

Still to be tested are the SMC Pentax M 50mm f/1.7, M 100mm f/2.8 and M 200mm f/4. Based on my previous results, they should all work just fine.
One of the first uses for my Pentax 1.7x was slapping it on an M400 and capturing some very nice Woodstork images. But that was back when I first started back with photography (2014? 2015?) and I really wanted something autofocus/auto-aperture. I'm much more comfortable with manual nowadays and would probably have kept it, and in hindsight should have.

There is a small flaw in my plan of doing bird photography with the 400mm and 1.7x AF converter. It is winter in South Africa and the birds have moved north. Not too many around right now...

That combination works fine for me. I do have to use a bit higher ISO than I like, but the K-3 seems to handle it quite well.

I paid 45 pounds for this one. Not very cheap but still at the lower range for what they are going for. Glass is clear and it moves smoothly and it came with a rear adaptall cap which is pretty rare. It does give you a scare though when you check out the glass because it looks like there is a giant air bubble right in the middle of the rear element. It is the center point of the transparent rear cap...)

One of these and some other Tamron lens as it was the cheepest way to get a KA mount, the 35-80 was £18 so that seems good.

And an MG 50mm 2x Pentax converter and Tamron 200mm 3.5.

Update on shock absorbers

As earlier reported, bought set of cheap ($248.00) imported shock absorbers, installed on 2008 Corolla in about 2 1/2 hours, no problems and car floats along like new. This was my second repair on the 2008 Corolla at 186,000 miles.

I have three of those. Two because I was looking for a cheap F 35-70mm (first one broke down quickly) can't remember what was attached to the third one....

edit oh now I remember I bought one to actually shoot film with back in 2012. The roll is still in it but the battery ran out
Two of mine came with 35-70 lenses too. This one, interestingly, has a 35-105.

Now, before anyone says something mean about the SFX or SFXn, note that for some obscure reason I seem to collect SFX cameras as I already have around 4 or 5. Don't ask me why. Maybe I'm feeling sentimental as it was my first Pentax.
Brand new as in "never used"? Wow, that's quite a find.

I have, I think, three SFXns and I like them a lot. They have their quirks and they're 80s-ugly, but they go to 1/4000s, AF is decent enough but they're not bad for manual focusing, plus I have one of the alternative grips that allows them to work with AA batteries.

K-10 arrived

The K-10 I won on eBay arrived today. Only 14,388 shutter clicks, and all packed up in original factory boxe with all the factory accessories--charger, USB connector, 18-55mm kit lens (non-WR, unfortunately), and an extra item, a rubberized camera guard/protector. Everything is in nice condition with no marks or scratches. Looks like I will be making a few more contribution to th K-10 thread.

Familiar feeling now for me, opening the box, checking the camera and shooting the first couple of pictures.
After that adjusting the menu to my personal preference and checking the shutter count.
Done that three times now and every time it is a surprise to find out what kind of K10d I bought.

A K200 due to the K10d thread making me fancy a CCD sensor camera and it was a great price, a spare 35-80 Tamron from a charity shop, a Tamron 70-210 as it had the right mount on and I am enjoying using manual focus lenses. Now need to go to Ikea and buy a shed load of batteries.

Wow! That is amazing! I have never been fond of the appearance of that series body, but seeing one brand new, it does look pretty impressive. Great purchase.

I have two. One is a Store Demonstrator. I like them with my few F lenses.
