No, I was beaten-out of a good item at around US$10+shipping because I was pre-occupied. I may get another copy of that at around US$20, but no more!

I'm a bit discouraged. Lenses cheap a year ago are costly now. [whimper whine bitch moan groan...] Fewer misc.lots at reasonable prices. All gone to hell...

And I'm rethinking some higher-grade desires. I *could* grab a Tammy 17-50/2.8 -- but why? No, DA-type zooms (and primes) just aren't on my shopping list.

So I'm free to concentrate on my ultra-light mini-kit, and old German-Russian glass, and Kodak lenses. I almost have enough of all else. Until the next frenzy!

Ackity Ack!!!

my latest "acquisition" was going to be a shot of this really REALLY cool bird that I hadn't seen before. It just flew into my garden unannounced and was ten times bigger than the size of the little birds I've been shooting lately. I had it all focused, I kept on pressing and nothing happened. Drove me batty. Lost maybe 5 or 6 great opps to shoot. I run out the door (coz the birdie's flown to investigate my raspberry bushes and really, I'm happy to attract birds but I DO NOT want them eating ALL my garden produce), try vainly to shoot again, and am flabberghasted as to why I can't shoot. I put the camera down and realise the camera is OFF. F*&)*&*^

i'd only used it ten mins prior to shoot another bird, and I have NO idea why I'd decided to switch it off. Usually I just leave it on for exact moments like the one just then.

by the time I switch the camera back on, the dratted bird has flown. ACCCCCK!!!

AND it stole a blueberry!!! *waves fist in the air*

Kodak USA made some highest (and lowest) quality optics for many decades. EK has a long history of producing both the best and the worst. What went into their consumer cameras was not great. Their professional and commercial glass was often top-notch. I search for Eastman|Kodak|Rochester enlarger-projector-copy-process and large-format lenses. Yes, you're in trouble again. Still. Don't scare the wollies.

nothing scares the wolfies except for the threat of no dinner

i'm still not over my bellows/enlarging lens scare yet. the macro results from that session were meh. probably because i'd only just started. but i'm still not ready to get back on the horse yet. maybe in another two weeks or so. having fun with my 60-300 tammy atm. getting some really cool bird shots except for that last one.. *mutters*

I would never threaten a supposedly domesticated carnivore with NO MORE FOOD. Just as I wouldn't threaten some members here with NO MORE LENSES. They might go feral.

I just went to the post office and two of my goodies awaited: the M42 17-35mm focusing helicoid (FREEDOM!) and the Kodak Ektar 44/2.8 lens (CHEAP!) and I've logged them and everything. (LBA... when your lens database is 100x larger than your phone book...) I just checked and my 11 Kodak lenses cost an average of US$5.40 each, shipped. Budget-busters, fer sure...

Anyway, the helicoid (and I may need to get a longer one later) will force me to rewrite my gear database. I'll need to note which projector-enlarger-copy-etc lenses can focus to infinity on it (and on any other helicoids, bellows, etc). Oh bother.

LOL. Yeah I certainly don't want 50kgs of "I WANT FOOD" demanding to know where dinner is.

I'll add your database comment to the list

yaaay to more lenses in the mail! just in time for christmas!

To store them? No!

To look at them with a glance full of miserliness and pride as we look at a bundle of bills*. Yes!

It's unbelievably heavy. My brother picked up my K-5 with it and the grip attached, and the only thing he said was "oh my God". Can't wait for a nice day around here to go out and shoot with it though. We've been having entirely too much rain lately.

Heavy? Compared to other similar telezooms it is almost anorectic.
