I just grabbed a nice P67 zoom lens I have been wanting for a while, the P67 90-180 f 5.6, new/unopened box, for unbelieveable low price; also ordered couple of 95mm UV filters for the two P67 zoom lenses.

After almost a year struggling with my K3 on the two tripods I own. (Tripods are ok, the heads were pathetic.) I picked up a minty used Manfrotto 3047 head from Roberts camera. Boy is that thing heavy and heavy duty.

I have a heavy and heavy duty tripod that I picked up back in the mid '80's It is a Leitz Tiltall. I've used for everything from medium format...Pentax 6X7, Mamiya TLR, Yashicamat TLR, Zeiss Ikon Super Ikonta B, etc...my 35mm's and my digitals. Great for supporting my Sigma 150-500, plus body.

It is rock solid and built like a Mack truck.

How I got it is an interesting story...well to me, anyways.

I had just rented and used a Pentax 6 X 7 with 90mm Leaf Shutter lens one weekend, and the heavy Pentax body almost immediately killed the cheap tripod head on my cheap tripod. That incident spurred me to action. I went to the camera store the next morning...early Saturday, saw, tried the Tiltall, bought it on the spot and that thing has been everywhere, never let me down in approaching 40 years.

I would say you did the right thing getting a HD tripod. Three things I never cheap out on...Tires, brakes, tripods.

I just ordered myself some new skis I'm going to set up for Alpine Touring (backcountry), a pair of Armada Tracer 108 in 180 cm.
I know it's still pretty summery but this is the cheapest time of year to buy ski stuff. Plus, there was a dusting on the peaks yesterday morning!
Not always a popular opinion but I'm looking forward to winter!

Sweet! I am needing to sell all my ski gear, including the Pocket Rockets* I was planning to convert for backcountry use. Lungs won't do the job anymore, so the backpack, hike, and cycling gear needs to go.

Steve

* I know...sort of ancient, but still in great shape. Those skis changed my life for living with Cascade Crud.

If even the lens is as clean as it looks, you scored!

Maybe if you keep active your lungs will get stronger?
Those are pretty old. Probably not much resale value these days.

My new skis are last year's model old stock for $450. My kind of price point.

Another job lot, which for once is BETTER than expected - for £29.49 including P&P I got

A Nikon F55 with 28-100 AF zoom, case, and unused batteries in very nice working condition, no fungus etc. - the item I bought the lot for.
Three assorted 35mm and APS compact cameras that are probably destined for a charity shop.
A Kodak instant camera ditto.
Two flashes ditto
A Sony camcorder which uses the same battery as my Sony Alpha 100 but doesn't have a charger; just charged it on the A100 charger and it works OK, really not sure what the camcorder market is like so I may donate it to charity to avoid problems.
A Sharp camcorder with a load of cables and chargers etc,, definitely for charity since it's fairly horrible and very heavy.
A Chinon 80-200 3.8 with M42 mount - works but has moderately severe fungus, unfortunately, I'll need to take some test photos to see how bad it is. Might be cleanable.
and (drum roll) a box that was marked as a Photax 35mm lens but turned out to contain a zebra-stripe Meyer-Optik Gorlitz Oreston 1.8/50 - slight fungus but only at the edges of the elements and working well. With a bit of luck that'll pay for most of the lot on its own!

Very nice. I always expect a lot from Olympus lenses, dunno why, and that ks1 is gorgeous.

Another job lot.

A Tamron 70-300 AF 4.0-5.6 for Nikon AF-S in very nice condition and working well
A Tamron 28-200 AF 3.8-5.6 for Pentax which I'm seriously considering for my own use - it's probably more useful than the 18-55 I've currently got on my K200D, especially if I want to enter more forum contests
A Cosina 28-200 3.5-5.6 manual focus for Pentax KA - slight dust and a couple of teeny scratches but otherwise OK
Auto Teleplus 2x and 3x converters for M42 - the 2x is good, the 3X has slight damage to the front element coating but otherwise OK
and a Chinon power winder which has corroded battery contacts but works (or at least powers up and runs the motor when I connect the pins) if I put some metal foil in to act as temporary contacts.

Cost £36.98 which feels reasonably OK.

New lens arrived.

My latest lens purchase just arrived via DHL. It is a brand new (NIB) Pentax 67 90-180mm f 5.6 zoom. It has been said to be a little less sharp than the 55-110mm 67 zoom, but in my initial trial it is really sharp. It was a tactile pleasure to unpack this big boy with factory packaging, instructions (in Japanese)--new hood and black canvas storage pouch.

The deer arrived about 7 p.m. in the field across from my house just in time to check out the high end, the 180mm. Here are some samples with the P67 90-180mm on the K-1. These are JPEG, handheld, and SOC. Distance is about 300 yards. I am sure the results would be better with a tripod.

Arrived yesterday: Peak Design Carbon Fiber Travel Tripod. After futzing around with a couple of traditional tripods doing a project and getting frustrated and pinched due to the fact I needed two hands to adjust, I reread the PD Travel Tripod Review posted on the Pentax Forums*, watched the sponsored videos, checked my Amazon Visa Card balance (only $86.00), logged into Amazon (I get 5% cash back on purchases made through Amazon), and dithered briefly between the aluminum and the carbon fiber model, (Carbon Fiber model: Free Next Day Delivery if ordered in the next 6 hours and 17 minutes) and two clicks later it was on the way.

It was on the porch when I got home from work, so I packed it up with my K70 and a bag of DA Ltds, leashed up Bandit and took off to Champions Park for a dog walk and self-portrait test. Here’s a couple casuals taken at a picnic table with Bandit on my lap. Although getting Bandit to look into the 15mm Ltd required constant hands on, I was able to adjust the PD head only using my left hand and frame using the reversed View screen one handed for a series.

I intend to give it plenty more testing over the three day weekend.

*If money is the root of all evil, reviews on the Pentax Forum have helped keep me on the side of good.
