Pentax DA* 50-135 F2.8

Adam had posted that Amazon has a couple of them for $624.00. I logged in and put one in my Cart. Almost bought it right then but had second thoughts and stopped the trigger finger and went to bed. I checked on it the next morning over my 1st cup of coffee and the price was down to $606. I have an Amazon Visa that gives me 5% back on Amazon purchases, so that’s another $30 off. Click click click ordered.

It was delivered today while I was home for lunch. I stuck it my K3II so it’d be with me on my after work dog walk and went back to work.

At Champion’s Park Bandit and I took one of the unpaved trails and we spotted a fella and a couple hounds coming towards us at the far end of an S shaped path. I decided to kneel and wait for the hounds to come around the bend into my FOV. I set the aperture to F2.8 because that’s was the point of buying it.

Anyway here’s one of them

A new Tammy SP adaptall-2 90/2.5 52B to replace the old one that doesn't focus to infinity unless it feels like it. A bit of a gamble. Cheaply bought from Japan, but it operates fine and the glass looks clear.

Your wish is my command!

Pentax Manuals | Manual Focus Bodies (Password = "Pentax")

In auto ("A" on lens and "A" on mode dial), exposure follows a program line.

hahaha!! thank you Steve! ......i had it in my head that i could set/change the fstop electronically along with speed.......

after reading some of the manual (which needs to be done again) but seems TTL can be done without the lens set in the 'a' position

Today's Portobello Road stuff - 7 skylight and UV filters, one 720nm IR filter, three lens caps and a hood for a fiver the lot. With the exception of the IR filter I'm just buying them to top up the filters etc. I include when I sell lenses. I'll probably list the IR filter separately, it's worth a few pounds.

Costco is similar to Sam's Club: the prices are reasonable. I was quoted 4, 6 or 8,000 for hearing aids from an independent, and got the equivalent of what they wanted 8,000 for for 1,800.

It is not my last purchase, I apologize but I did not want to open another thread for a seemingly simple question. Do you suggest me to buy this optic?
I noticed that the lens has a small white dot, the seller very kindly told me that it is a small white spot "dust I suppose"
that appears more evident in the photo but that does not affect the peculiarity of the lens and photos.
(Sigma 50mm F1.4 EX DG HSM as new except that spot), the price 250€, I know it does not compromise the lens, but in case of resale I would lose more.

What suggestion do you give me? Thank for for suggestions, Mario

I wouldn't give it a second thought, if everything else, including the price, is right with the lens. As far as resale a properly informed buyer shoudn't be concerned.
Cheers

Hi grhazelton,

The fact of the tiny dust inside the optics is a recurring feature, the Japanese in their insertions almost always specify these parameters.

Thank you for your sincere answer.

Ciao Mario.

Another bargain from Japan (especially because I got it under 22 euros so didn't have to pay vat and handling costs). It had a seemingly scratched front element, but that came right of with some cleaning fluid.
Tamron SP 24-48mm 1:3.5-3.8.

Residue from a label, or something of the sort?

Today's car boot sale bargain was a repeat of last week - a Zenit body with case and Helios 44-M-4 lens. This time it's a Zenit 11, which is basically a Zenit E with slightly modernised controls and automatic stop-down, still no TTL metering, but it's working well and in good condition apart from a slight brown mark where the prism silvering isn't perfect, and the lens is very nice, working well and fungus-free. Cost a tenner, which is more than fair.

Also five boxes of paper clips for a pound, and an Apple Magsafe charger for a fiver. Unfortunately it isn't the right one for my laptop; I use magsafe 1, the charger is Magsafe 2, but I think one of my nieces can use it.
