Just received a nice job lot of five exposure meters - the "nice" is that they all work. They include three selenium cell models - a Weston V with Invercone, a Russian Vega V, and a Hanimex Sekonic (the first meter model I ever owned), and two CDS, a Hanimex (probably also Sekonic) and a Rank Electra, a badge name that could be anything. Cost £11.03 including postage, I might keep one for myself (I don't need a hand-held meter often, but I do occasionally and at the moment I'm using an iPhone app which is a little clunky and can't do ambient light very well), and ought to be able to sell the rest on at a profit

I also picked up a Weston selenium meter with the box of old cameras I salvaged from a messy yard sale, but alas, it doesn't work.

Looking forward to the arrival of an A 35mm f2.0. A completely unnecessary acquisition being already the happy owner of the HD DA 35mm f2.8, but I do like a good manual focus lens, and as I remind SWMBO whenever she looks askance at my purchases, you can never have too many lenses as long as they are good ones and rare, as they are an investment for the future!

I bought the same lens several months ago from a FB seller. Excellent lens with nice bokeh. I doubt my “Plastic fantastic” DA 35/2.4 will find its way into my camera bag anymore.

Arrived yesterday and aesthetically it looks great (except for the battery 'door' which is a little corroded). However, the electronics all work superbly, it meters well, winds nicely, the Judas window is seated perfectly and the shutter varies at different set speeds.
The only caveat is that at higher speeds, intermittently, the shutter curtain doesn't return fully, so the mirror sticks up. I've checked that it isn't gummy mirror bumper foam and can confirm that it isn't. Similarly, it's not degraded foam that has stuck to the curtain. I've seen this issue mentioned a few times previously so can assume it's one and the same. I've enquired with Asahiphoto here in the UK as to a repair cost.
On a slight aside, seeing how well the meter works in the new one highlights how my current one isn't quite up to scratch. It's a little flickery during shutter speed changes mostly so I've asked for a repair cost for that (having checked the more external battery contacts, which are all fine).
They're both pretty good, visually, and they mostly work well so I'm keen to get them back to their former glory!

Contact established with Asahi Photo in UK. Will be sending them both off, probably Wednesday, for their inspection and to generate a quote.
Turnaround is approx 10 working days.
For those interested, I had also contacted Alan Marlow, but he's no longer working on MX's.

...I'm still tempted to pick up another MX. They're just so damn nice.

Why would I buy a Pentax FA 28-80 Power Zoom lens which is missing its zoom control button for $20?
Well, the contacts for the power zoom on the lens mount are the same as the SDM/DC/PLM power contacts on modern DA and DFA lenses. The contacts do break, and Pentax doesn’t sell parts. So, Roberts Camera had the 28-80 for $7.99 plus shipping.

Finally scored a Tele-Tak 200/5.6 (preset). I already have the 200/4 Super-Tak, but I read good things of it's preset predecessor. Also 10 blades should give nice bokeh stopped down in the day time.
At some point I'll try to do a side by side of the two lenses. I did not find such thread in these forums (or anywhere).
