No, no, NO!!! (you are the evil voice in my head, aren't you? or at least you are very familiar with it )

She-who-must-be-obeyed is in charge of my paypal now, so ebay is pretty much out and I think I am not insane enough (yet) to just go out and get it.

NEX-5N will do me just fine. Just fine.

Yes.

Yes.
Start another PayPal account. Don't tell anyone. As long as it doesn't come to the attention of SWMBO, all is well. Or see a divorce lawyer.

Psssst, just quietly, between you and me, no one buys such a lens to use on a NEX without knowing in their heart of hearts that a M body is in their future. I know that, you know that, but I just hope your wife isn't reading this forum

Enjoy your new lens, I'm jealous, we all are.

you can always start with a nice M3,4,5,6,7 film body to ease your way in

M3 (excellent RF - really the best finder) about the same price as a K5. the extra 6 grand buys a lot of film

LBA has been pretty bad in 2011. I even crossed my 2k boundary ("just to try it out") with this:
Sweet

Is that the black NEX-5 I sent you or did you already pickup a NEX-5n?

I've already got the 5n

But it was your NEX-5 that set me off on this new spiral of LBA (all those lenses I can adapt to the NEX! Plus the fantastic support for MF!!!)

All the things that i wish to buy have to wait a bit now.

As I mentioned few days ago about job offer. I will be going to Nuremberg germany Further company said they would buy the software I wrote earlier if they think it could be used. It will become their side product if it passes their testing. So during july august I expect some good amount of money.

Can't wait till July Aug to buy all the lenses I am longing to buy for so long. :-) Meanwhile I have to live drooling over all the stuff you guys are buying.

no way. the best finder on any rangefinder is the one on a Bessa R3a/R3m. 1:1 (1.0x magnification) life-size finder. I have an M3, and its not as good. it just isn't. of course a lot less can be said for the rest of the Bessa, vs. an M3, but Cosina put it good to Leica when they introduced that finder. if you say otherwise you either haven't tried it or you are likely just a leicaphile. the M3 is a great camera though. but I prefer an M2. why did you not include the M2?

Second teleconverter with AF buttons arrived today. Plan is to turn this one into extension tubes. Bit scared though. any tips on the best way to break the glass? I think I read somewhere about using a towel to cushion the blow?

Don't break the glass. I've converted about a dozen TCs with AF contacts into tubes and I've never had to break the glass. In all the ones I've converted, you can just unscrew the top retaining washer/nut and the glass will just come right out. If you want, take a quick picture of the top (and bottom) and post them (or PM me) and I'd be happy to help you out Breaking the glass should be the very last resort.
