KX 55/1.8 SMC K 35-80/4~5.6A $85 all in on Mercari. Everything is clean and working.

Can someone explain why a Hong Kong made K-1000 with 50/2 M sold for $179 and the KX I scored was up for over a month with the buyer accepting my $70 plus tax and shipping offer?
There must have been some issue with the listing that prevented people from seeing it? Maybe it was under digital cameras and ebay defaults to film cameras when you type pentax kx?

Every once in a while I look for a KX on ebay, I'd like to have one. But even the ones that say "For parts" can be higher than the price you paid. And that's body only, without the fantastic K 55 1.8!

Even the ones in the mid-100s seem to be in poor condition (despite the description saying otherwise).

Mercari is weird. A half dozen people had the KX in their carts. Seller was asking $85 plus shipping/tax. I offered $70 plus S&T and the KX was mine an hour later. The only issue I have found is the mirror for the aperture judas window must have de-silvered. My first MX (bought new) had the same thing happen.

I only use a tripod once or twice a year, so I've been tolerating ancient hand-me-down for a very long time.........The head on the old one broke a few weeks ago, so caved and I ordered a "3 Legged Thing" when I saw them on sale the other day.

I really don't need the bells and whistles, so I went with their cheapest model (Patti) and it's really nice for a $95 tripod. It may not have the best head, but it's lightyears ahead of the Sears and Roebuck special that I pulled out my my parent's garage in 1996!

Picked up a Pentax A 50mm f/1.4, mostly for astrotracing (if the skies ever clear that is). A replacement / adjunct to the 28mm f/2.8.
It seems like an odd lense to buy, but my only other 50 is a M42 Takumar from back in the 70’s …

I presume that's the Series 1 lens with a single "trombone" zoom & focus ring. Had one on my ME Super. The front element is big = requires a large diameter hood. The close focus system is tricky to use.

I just ordered three rolls of Kosmofoto Agent Shadow (cool name) iso400 mono for £20 direct from Kosmofoto. Very exciting. Re the K1000, I recently got my MX for £45 and, bar the hot shoe, it's superb. Being a recent film adopter and having no affinity with the K1000 I will leave that overpriced basic unit to the nostalgic and stick with my MX and Spotmatic SP, which looks resplendent in blue leather

Looking forward to your results from the Kosmofoto!

Kosmofoto mono is just foma 100 and was a bit flat but the Agent Shadow looks quite contrasty with nice deep blacks l also have some Rollei Retro 400 to try. The last roll of Rollei was lovely but first I have my roll of expired Fujifilm superia. On Monday Night my photographic society have arranged four character models in a really interesting location. When I am not shooting the joker or a peaky blinder I will be documenting the night on film. That should be fun

A manual that starts with a page 1 and you read as far as you feel you need to do what you want with the product because the topics become more esoteric and specialised as you go through.

Ricoh XR-2 body with XR Rikenon 50mm f/2.0 lens

$50 shipped from a PF Marketplace reseller

IIRC a Sears KS auto (aka Ricoh XR-2s) was my first K-mount body.

Incoming from eBay UK... a K-mount Sigma 50mm f/2.8 EX DG Macro with original end-caps, hood and case; boxed and allegedly in "as new", little used condition.

I'd been eyeing up the Pentax D FA50/2.8 Macro for a while, but with other recent purchases and expenses I couldn't bring myself to buy one. Here in the UK it retails for almost GBP £350 new, with used examples fetching over GBP £250; and, whilst I'm sure it's worth every penny, I simply couldn't justify it right now...

... and then, whilst looking at alternative macros in the same focal length, I came across an auction for this Sigma. The many reviews and bench-test results were very promising - much better than I'd expected, frankly. Plus, from the photos I think it's the very last version of the lens before production ended; the one with a non-textured body. The hood wasn't shown in the auction photo and would cost around £25 to replace, so I sent the seller an enquiry and in minutes he confirmed the hood was indeed present.

Buy It Now price was less than half the cost of a used D FA50/2.8 Macro, and with four days left for the auction to run there were six watchers already. If any of them were fellow members here, please accept my apologies - I couldn't resist

It should arrive late this week. Seller's pic below (funky rug not included)...
